Tuner Takes Chevy Corvette C8 To 1,250-HP With Extensive Modifications
It’s a great time to be a Chevrolet Corvette fan. The existing C8 Stingray and Z06 are world-class sports cars that can challenge Europe’s top offerings. Plus, the 1,064-horsepower ZR1 model is just months away from beginning deliveries.
Meanwhile, aftermarket firms are developing increasingly powerful C8 Corvettes. Specialty Vehicle Engineering currently owns the rights to the Yenko name, one of the oldest Chevy tuners still in existence. The company is now launching a pair of new, high-powered Vettes.

The new Yenko SC Corvettes start with the LT2 6.2-liter V-8 from the base C8 model, with 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque from the factory. The tuner fits the engine with a pair of Garrett 58-millimeter water-cooled turbos. The blueprinted powerplant has a forged steel crankshaft, H-beam rods, 2618 aluminum pistons, CNC-ported cylinder heads, a proprietary camshaft design, upgraded fuel injection, and custom valve covers with integrated oil separators.
Yenko modifies the transmission to handle the extra power. Depending on the level of tuning, there could be upgraded dual-clutch units and improved billet baskets.
Yenko offers these upgrades in two forms. The Stage I version makes 1,000 horsepower, and the Stage II tune produces 1,250 horsepower, with additions like Boost-By-Gear control. Buyers can select between coupe and convertible configurations. Folks can order them directly through the Chevy dealers that are partners with Specialty Vehicle Engineering.

How They Look

The powertrain modifications are the heart of these packages. On the outside, buyers have three stripe options: the side flanks and hood, the hood, roof, and decklid, or the side, hood, roof, and decklid.
An additional option is a body kit and front splitter. Buyers can specify the parts in Carbon Flash Metallic or the body color. Yenko-badged brake calipers are also available.
The available wheels include forged and CNC-machined units measuring 19” x 9.5” front and 20” x 12” at the back. They mount to Nitto summer ultra-high-performance tires.
The changes in the cabin are even more minor. The headrests and floormats have an embroidered “sYc” logo. Buyers can still specify any of the cabin options from the regular C8 Stingray. The company also offers a Z06-style rear spoiler in the same color scheme.

TopSpeed’s Take:

Chevrolet
These Yenko Corvettes are intriguing machines. The Stage II upgrade provides more power than the Chevy’s own ZR1, despite not having hybrid assistance. The company isn’t yet providing specs like the acceleration times or top speed.
