Zero Motorcycles' partnership with Sirris SuspensionZero Motorcycles partnered with Sirris Suspension to build out new aftermarket upgrades for the brand's new all-electric XE and XB dirt bikes. And they add a ton of functional capability.Zero Motorcycles' new all-electric XE and XB dirt bikes are perhaps the company's most interesting products ever. And that's coming from someone who loved his time with the FX and the DSR/X, though given those two motorcycles' purposes, I'm sure you can guess why I dig the dirt bikes. But more so than my love for dirt, the XE and XB are aimed at the hottest market in the motorcycling community right now: youth and off-road. Kids and their parents are snatching EV dirt bikes up faster than any gasoline-powered dirt bike ever, and more kids are actually out riding. It's why Sur-Ron, Talari, and Niu exist, it's why Stark got to be profitable in short order, and it's even why LiveWire, after years of mismanagement, recently purchased the startup Dust Moto, as to gain that company's upcoming EV dirt bike. You follow the money, and the money in EV dirt bikes is talking. AdvertisementAdvertisementYet, even something as new as the XE and XB, which only recently went on sale, is hot for so long. And this community, the EV dirt bike community, relies heavily on personalization of these vehicles to keep them in the public's consciousness. The aftermarket is where it's at, which is why Zero's latest move, i.e., partnering with suspension specialist Sirris, continues the line of great business decisions. Who's ready for fully adjustable suspension for your Zero XE and XB? I sure am. There will be two packages available: one for the XB and one for the XE. As the XB is the more introductory of the two, Sirris and Zero only built out a new front fork system, called the F43 CMX Fork. According to the brands, the forks use a symmetrical closed cartridge design and dualindependent sealed dampers, which translates to a setup that's been built specifically for the dirt bike's setup and "mixed terrain use." It ships with everything you'll need to swap the front forks over, too, including a spacer, new brake bracket, and the mounting solution to run the brake lines. The XE, however, is where things get interesting, and not just because this is the one that I'd best fit on. Zero Motorcycles' partnership with Sirris SuspensionSirris and Zero worked on a full package for the larger of the two EV dirt bikes, which includes new forks and a new rear shock system. What you get is the same F43 CMX fork as the XB, although retuned for the physically bigger and heavier XE dirt bike, but also a R46 rear shock, which was "tuned together [with the front fork] for balanced chassis geometry and consistent trail performance. That said, a race tune is also available. Both the forks and the rear shock, however, are fully adjustable for compression, rebound, preload, and spring rates, making it stupidly easy to dial in your preferred setup. AdvertisementAdvertisement"Starting from the initial launch of our new X Line motorcycles, we’ve been working with Sirris tocustomize performance suspension profiles for the most demanding riding conditions," says Garrett Johnson, Zero Motorcycles VP of Sales & CX for North America, adding, "Now, we’re excited to offer these optimized solutions as turnkey upgrades to all our customers who want to push their XE or XB harder, whether they’re looking for more control on the trail or lining up to race." As for price, the F43 CMX fork for the Zero XB and XE will set you back a cool $2,250, while the rear shock for the XE costs $895. That ain't bad for custom suspension that you can throw on in an afternoon, that also gives you enhanced capability. And you can either go through Sirris or through Zero's own website to order the setups. We may have more on this story soon, maybe even testing it out, so stay tuned. But in the meantime, let us know how you feel about the rise of EV dirt bikes in the comments below.
