The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling pickup truck for a staggering 49 years. So far in 2026, the F-150 continues to be the sales leader, with 157,841 units sold in the first quarter already, but that figure is down 16% since Q1 of 2025.With other strong competitors gaining momentum and getting new generations soon, combined with lower F-150 supply this year due to last fall's fire at their aluminum plant, there's a stronger chance of the F-150 losing its crown than ever before. But which one has the best chances? Keep reading to find out.For this list, we've ranked the best-selling pickup trucks from least to most sales for the first quarter of 2026, using manufacturer-supplied sales figures. All listed prices include destination and freight charges and don't include any current incentives. GMC Canyon 11,027 Sold In Q1 2023 - 2026 GMC Canyon (27)The GMC Canyon is one of the furthest from the pickup sales crown, but for a premium-branded truck, it does fairly well, still outselling things like the Honda Ridgeline and Tesla Cybertruck. For those looking either for different styling, or more luxuries with the Denali trim, the Canyon continues to be a great mid-size truck option. It has one of the strongest base engines, a nice interior, and a variant for everyone, including the AT4X off-road trim. Ford Ranger 17,775 Sold In Q1 2024 Ford Ranger FX4 Blue Front Angled ViewIt's a bit of a head-scratcher that the Ranger doesn't sell better. It's made by the same company that makes the bestselling full-size truck, so why hasn't that expertise shown up with strong Ranger sales? While the price gap between it and F-150 isn't huge, it's significant enough that discounted F-150s shouldn't be cannibalizing Ranger sales that much. It doesn't even get close to selling as well as the smaller Maverick, which isn't much cheaper anymore, actually. It's not that the Ranger is bad either. It has good power, good looks, a pretty nice interior and a competitive price tag. Plus, there's the awesome Raptor version that has more muscle than every other mid-size hardcore off-roader. Regardless, it's stuck at ninth place on our list, with just 17,775 sales in Q1. That does represent a 19.2% increase compared to last year though, so maybe buyers are finally starting to come around to the Ranger. Nissan Frontier 21,411 Sold In Q1 2026 Nissan Frontier Pro-4XThe Nissan Frontier has a strong following thanks to its simpler and more old-school approach, with a proven platform, lots of buttons on the inside, and an all-important naturally-aspirated V6 engine that no other mid-size competitor can match in 2026. That engine alone is partly why the Frontier sells even better than the Ford and almost as well as the Chevy too.The light refresh it got last year that gave it a bigger screen might be helping things a little too, but the other big draw of the Frontier is its lower price tag compared to the others. With buyers being more price-conscious than ever, the Frontier is quickly gaining momentum, with its 21,411 sales last quarter equaling a huge 47.9% sales increase from Q1 of 2025. It's good to see it having some success since the full-size Titan went belly-up back in 2024. Chevrolet Colorado 21,596 Sold In Q1 2023 - 2026 Chevrolet ColoradoThe Chevrolet Colorado rounds out the lower-selling mid-sizers with a Q1 tally of 21,596 that just barely puts it ahead of the much cheaper Frontier and marks a 16.5% decrease year-over-year. If the Colorado continues its decline and the Frontier continues its rise, Nissan could end up dethroning Chevy from the second place spot for best-selling mid-size truck. With an identical horsepower output to the Nissan, it's clear that buyers prefer the Frontier's V6 over the turbo four-cylinder the Colorado uses. Ford Maverick 33,961 Sold In Q1 2025-ford-maverick-exterior-1Breaking away from all the mid-size trucks for a bit, the next notch up the sales ladder goes to the Ford Maverick. Not only is it a lovable little package that's likely enough truck for the majority of truck buyers that just do light hauling, but thanks to its unibody platform and standard hybrid powertrain, its fuel economy rating of 42 mpg will likely continue to give it an extra boost as long as gas prices remain high. Its Q1 performance of 33,961 represents a decrease of 10.9% compared to last year, but it's hard to imagine that number not improving as affordability and efficiency continue to grow in importance. Toyota Tundra 34,616 Sold In Q1 2026 Toyota Tundra TRDPro Tundra WaveMaker The coming high-performance version, possibly called the TRD Hammer, might help sales a little and renew more interest in Tundras. The Tundra, being the only other full-size truck other than the F-150 to offer a hybrid powertrain, could also certainly help its sales prospects if high gas prices stick around for a while. Toyota Tacoma 69,263 Sold In Q1 2026 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-RoadWhile Toyota struggles with full-size trucks, they absolutely dominate the mid-size truck segment, with the Tacoma leading the others in sales by a mile, with 69,263 units sold already in Q1. Despite the new generation ditching the V6 in favor of a turbo 'four,' most Tacoma buyers appear to have stayed loyal.Whether its faith in Toyota's reliability, the historically strong resale values of the Tacoma, being the only mid-size on the market that offers a hybrid, or something else, Tacoma is showing no signs of slowing down. Its 69,263 units sold in Q1 represents a 15.8% increase over last year. If it keeps that up, it could overtake another full-size truck soon, but the F-150 is still well out of reach of the Tacoma for now. GMC Sierra 75,607 Sold In Q1 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 ElevationIf all the GM full-size truck sales figures were combined, they would steal the F-150's crown (by a lot), but GMC's existence is more important than a sales crown. GMC has seen great growth in recent years, especially for the Denali sub-brand as pickup truck buyers have continued to flock to pricier trucks. While Sierra was down 3.7% for this quarter compared to last year's Q1, it could get a boost later this year when the next-generation GM trucks are revealed, both from buyers wanting the new truck and from those that don't like the new one and want to snag one of the last of this generation. Ram 98,425 Sold In Q1 2026 Ram 1500 Rebel front, three-quarterRam has more momentum in the full-size truck segment than anyone, largely fueled by it bringing back the V8 in the 1500. Ram sales had their best quarter in Q1 since 2023, with the whole brand up 20%, and the 1500 up by an even higher 27%. If it can manage to keep up that momentum, and that's a big if, it could make a run for the F-150's crown this year. Even if Ram doesn't manage that, it could overtake Chevrolet again for the number two spot, like it did back in 2019. Chevrolet Silverado 128,818 Sold In Q1 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 front, three-quarterThe Chevrolet Silverado, like usual, is the closest to catching the F-150, although it's still about 30,000 units short of that goal in Q1. Like Sierra, it could get a boost later this year when the next-generation Silverado is revealed, both from buyers wanting the new truck and from those that don't like the new one and want to snag one of the last 2026s. But even if it just stays consistent, it could reel in the Ford if the F-150 sales pace happens to drop throughout the remainder of the year. With all the F-150's challenges this year, and its more dated nature once the new GM trucks arrive, it could be prime time to steal the F-150's crown. It'll be an interesting race to watch the rest of this year.Sources: Ford, General Motors, RAM, Toyota, Nissan.
