What We Know About The New Xterra Despite Nissan's eagerness to talk about its new SUV, it is not expected to go on sale until the 2028 model year. The company released a single teaser image last week, showing off a chiseled hood, thin accent lighting above the grille, and bold "NISSAN" branding. The Xterra will differentiate itself from its competitors via its powertrains. Nissan said it will stick with a V6 engine in the Xterra, likely relying on the automaker’s 3.8-liter engine that makes 310 horsepower in the Frontier pickup.
