Starting at $69,600 (not including a $2,750 destination fee) for the base Elevation trim, the Yukon is more premium than the lowest Tahoe or Suburban trims with heated front and rear leather seats, surround-view cameras, a power liftgate, and more. It's also more expensive than several Tahoe trims, including the LS ($60,700), LT ($63,700), and RST ($68,700).As you move up Chevy's trim structure, the lines between the Tahoe/Suburban and Yukon start to blur. A Tahoe High Country starts at $80,700, but it's possible to load one with options to exceed $100,000. That means the most expensive Chevy can actually blow right past the base Escalade's $91,100 MSRP. While we previously found the Tahoe unworthy of its six-figure price tag, the most expensive Yukon might be the best value of the trio at this level. The Denali Ultimate trim starts at $103,900, and delivers Cadillac luxury for a slight discount.Denali Offers Ultimate LuxuryIn the past, the Denali was the most luxurious Yukon trim level, but the introduction of the Denali Ultimate for the 2023 model year added a new halo model. This version comes mostly loaded with GM's best technology, including Super Cruise, adaptive Air Ride suspension with Magnetic Ride Control, an 18-speaker Bose audio system, rear seat entertainment, and much more. By the time you add them all, the Tahoe can crest the $100,000 mark, but it still misses features found in the Yukon for only a few thousand more, such as massage seats and eight additional speakers. Compared to the Escalade, the Yukon misses out on the 36-speaker AKG audio system, power open/close doors, massive screens that span across the dashboard, and a few other luxury details.Executive Seating For LessThe Escalade may have a few exclusive features that are not available in the Yukon, but the GMC's lower price point makes it the potentially superior value, especially if you want a more luxurious back seat. GMC offers an Executive Second Row Seating Package for $3,995 as the only major available option for the Denali Ultimate.This package replaces the standard heated rear seats with power-operated massage seats that are heated and ventilated. In fact, the Yukon's Executive Second Row is nearly identical to the one offered in the Escalade, though it lacks the center console with fold-out tray tables, wireless phone chargers, and USB ports. While the Cadillac offers a slightly nicer executive back seat, it also costs more at $7,500. That package is only available on upper trims, meaning it will cost around $134,000 to get an Escalade with the nicer back seat compared to around $110,000 for the Yukon.If you opt for either SUV with these seats, you lose the ability to fold the second row, severely limiting cargo capacity. The seats also don't fold forward very far, making it a tight squeeze to get into the third row. Since the Yukon doesn't have a second row center console, you can use the space between the captain's chairs, something that isn't possible in the Escalade.New Models Coming?The Yukon Denali Ultimate offers near-Escalade level luxury for a lesser price. It's technically a great value for what you get, but there is one reason to possibly hold off on buying one for another year or two; a new generation is coming soon. The current 6.2-liter engine has experienced major issues and with diesel prices skyrocketing recently, the fuel savings of the Duramax aren't enough to offset the added running cost. GM will hopefully resolve its reliability woes with the upcoming 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines from the new trucks, which should also make their way into the SUVs.
