It remains an affordable but unremarkable entrant in a competitive segment. The only change for this model year is the addition of heated side mirrors. Those mirrors join the Envision's impressive list of standard kit, which may be enough to tempt some shoppers away from usual suspects like the Genesis GV70, BMW X3, or Volvo XC60.AdvertisementAdvertisementThose rivals still feel substantially more premium than the Envision, and we think most luxury buyers will be happier shopping the competition.Image shown is last year model. This page will be updated with photos as information becomes available. What We ThinkOn paper, the 2027 Buick Envision looks like a bargain. Its starting price is thousands cheaper than most competitors, even value-oriented heavy hitters like the Genesis GV70.On the spec sheet, nothing looks out of place. Power output is a little low for the segment, but a turbo-four is enough for everyday driving. The features list is long: Even base trims get goodies like a 360 camera, a head-up display, and wireless charging. The premium Avenir model, with its heated and ventilated leather seating, will set you back less than a base BMW X3. The Envision even looks the part; in our opinion, this is one of the best-looking Buicks in years.AdvertisementAdvertisementHop behind the steering wheel, though, and you start to feel where corners were cut. That turbo-four engine clatters at idle, and it struggles to motivate the Envision for passing maneuvers. Although a 2024 refresh helped the interior, switchgear and trim still feel cheap for a luxury crossover. All-wheel drive must be manually activated when your foot is off the gas, which dents real-world usability. Handling is competent, but steering is vague and the driving experience is forgettable. If design and features-per-dollar value are at the top of your shopping list, the Envision might offer a decent value. For most luxury shoppers, we'd recommend spending up to a competitor.Top-Ranked Competitors:Genesis GV70BMW X3AdvertisementAdvertisementLincoln CorsairLexus NXVolvo XC60MotorTrend TestedThe 2027 Buick Envision is available with only one powertrain: a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4. Output maxes out at 228 hp and 258 lb-ft, which is low for the segment. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, but only when you ask it to—the system defaults to FWD unless AWD is manually selected. In most cases, all-wheel drive makes a car quicker than front-wheel-drive equivalents. We didn't find that to be the case with the Envision. In MotorTrend testing, an AWD Envision took a leisurely 7.5 seconds to reach 60, almost half a second slower than a FWD Envision we tested and a full second and a half slower than a base Genesis GV70. Even a hybrid Lexus NX 350h is peppier than the Buick.MPGs and RangeThe Buick Envision earned ratings of 22/28 mpg city/highway and 403 miles of range from the EPA for 2026. Without any major powertrain changes, we expect the 2027 model to perform similarly.AdvertisementAdvertisementAlthough the Envision is slightly more efficient than a Genesis GV70, its fuel economy numbers trail most rivals. The Lexus NX (a hybrid on every trim for 2027) will cost much less at the pump.Safety Ratings and FeaturesThe Buick Envision hasn't been tested by the IIHS, but the NHTSA gave the model a perfect five-star rating. All crash test scores were excellent aside from the rollover test, where the Envision scored four stars out of five.Standard safety equipment is generous. All active tech is standard on every trim, including:Automatic emergency brakingBlind-spot monitoringLane keeping assistAdaptive cruise controlAutomatic high-beamsAdvertisementAdvertisement360 cameraParking assistBicycle alerts after parkingCargo Space and Interior RoomPassenger space in the 2027 Buick Envision is competitive, and both rows are comfortable for adult passengers. Cargo capacity is decent, but some competitors offer more space in the back—particularly with the seats folded.TechnologyInfotainmentTech is one of the main selling points of the 2027 Envision. Front and center is a massive 30.0-inch display, which includes an infotainment touchscreen and the driver's digital gauge cluster. The operating system is Google-based, but it's compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.Standard tech features include:Head-up displayAdvertisementAdvertisementWireless chargingWi-Fi hotspot360 cameraActive noise cancellationFour USB portsSound SystemStandard nine-speaker Bose audioValueStandard FeaturesWe have some quibbles with the interior trim on the Envision, but it's hard to argue with its kit. In addition to the tech and safety features listed above, every 2027 Envision gets:Perforated leatherette upholsteryMirror and seat memory settingsHeated and auto-dimming side mirrors (new for 2027)Keyless entryRemote startRecommended TrimThe Envision's budget-luxury aspirations are best maximized in the base Preferred trim. It gets all the same tech and safety features as the upper trims, and the Envision's interior materials aren't premium enough to justify spending up on upholstery.AdvertisementAdvertisementNot much is left on the options list, but with room in the budget we'd spring for the Comfort & Convenience package. It adds dual-zone climate control, a hands-free liftgate, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
