Image: Not a Tesla AppCurrent U.S. orders of the Model 3 Performance and Model Y Performance reportedly include Premium Connectivity for the original owner at no recurring charge. At $99 per year through a standard subscription, that benefit adds up to roughly $495 over five years before taxes, though the savings come with meaningful conditions.Premium Connectivity is Tesla's cellular-connected services package, sitting above the baseline Standard Connectivity tier. Standard Connectivity covers navigation, phone notifications, software updates, traffic-aware route planning, and Tesla app access, though exact feature availability can vary by vehicle configuration and software version. What the Benefit CoversPremium Connectivity adds cellular access to a set of navigation, entertainment, and security features that Standard Connectivity cannot reach.Live traffic visualization and satellite-view maps are among the most practical additions for daily driving. Weather information and radar, 3D building overlays, and traffic-light and speed-camera icons round out the navigation upgrade. The entertainment side adds music and video streaming, Caraoke, the in-car web browser, and Grok where supported. For security, it enables Sentry Mode live camera access and dashcam and Sentry Mode video review through the Tesla app.One important caveat on entertainment: Premium Connectivity supplies the vehicle's data connection, not the content itself. Services like Spotify or Netflix still require their own separate subscriptions. There is also a hotspot limitation worth understanding. Most streaming and browser features can operate over a phone hotspot or Wi-Fi, but live traffic visualization and satellite-view maps require the vehicle's own cellular connection. If those two navigation features matter to your daily commute, the included connectivity carries genuine practical value.$495 is the approximate five-year savings for an original Performance owner who would otherwise subscribe at Tesla's current annual rate of $99, before taxes, assuming pricing holds.Image: Not a Tesla AppThe Fine Print Worth KnowingThis benefit belongs to the original owner only, and a few eligibility details are worth confirming before you buy.The perk is non-transferable and ends when ownership changes hands, under the terms described in the supplied reporting. A used Model 3 Performance may or may not retain active Premium Connectivity depending on its specific order history and vehicle entitlement; check the vehicle's actual terms rather than assuming a used car is either included or excluded.Earlier Performance deliveries may not qualify if Tesla added the inclusion after the vehicle was ordered or delivered. To verify your specific vehicle, open the Tesla app and navigate to your vehicle's information page, then look for included features such as Premium Connectivity listed under your vehicle specifications. Because the exact app navigation can vary by version, Tesla's support page is the authoritative reference for current steps. This permanent inclusion is also distinct from Tesla's periodic promotional trials, which offer Premium Connectivity free for a limited number of months on other trims or in select markets. Those trials expire. This one, for qualifying Performance buyers under current terms, does not.Tesla has adjusted included benefits, trial structures, and order-page language before. Check the order agreement before finalizing a purchase.Connected-car subscriptions are an increasingly standard part of vehicle ownership, and having one less recurring charge is a real advantage for qualifying Performance buyers who aren't paying too much on recurring charges. That advantage applies only if you are the original owner, plan to keep the car, and actually use live traffic or remote camera features. Confirm your vehicle's specific terms before assuming anything is included.
