Drivers following will sometimes do whatever means necessary to keep up. This can lead to some risky driving and speeding in order to keep up.
In a TikTok that’s generated over 6.4 millions views as of this writing, Elizavet (@lizardsaccord) shares how her boyfriend sped off after telling her to follow him.

In the TikTok, Elizavet shows herself driving quickly driving along windy roads while trying to follow her boyfriend.
“So now I gotta be an F1 driver?!,” she captions her post.
What starts as a manageable distance quickly turns into a frantic chase.
Elizavet documents the gradual progression of the boyfriend’s speed. He’s seen speeding up open roads and sharply hitting turns. This drive seemed to be more like a high speed chase instead of a casual follow to a destination.

Both drivers displayed fluid and seamless driving on the windy roads. Nevertheless, the drive was far more stressful than Elizavet anticipated.

In the comment section, people shared similar driving stories. Most seem to be women complaining about men.
“They be using that time to flex their car speed vs yours,” one wrote.
“My bf said this and then ran 3 red lights,” another shared.
“He knows once I drop to the speed limit I’m fed tf up,” a third added.
Others took her boyfriend to task for making a simple drive a potentially dangerous chase.
“No cuz why is [he] actively running away from you???” one wondered.

Another popular take was that this is why people don’t agree to follow someone else to a destination.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one-third of motor vehicle fatalities are caused by speeding.
Risky driving and speeding endangers everyone on the road: the driver, fellow cars, and law enforcement. Additionally, speeding can impact drivers' control in harsh weather conditions, poor lighting situations, and on poorly conditioned roads.
Potential consequences of speeding include:
