When it comes to engine upgrades on YouTube, often the more random the better. A muscle car with a few extra horsepower? Pah, seen it all before. A hot hatch with an engine remap? Been there, done that. What we really like is something that doesn't have any particular use, other than that it is awesome. This takes us to the coolest upgrade we've seen in a while for a pickup truck that not many people have even heard of. Does it really need it? No, probably not, but that's not really the point... This Rare Truck Is Getting A Hellcat Supercharger The GMC Sierra Quadrasteer is one of the coolest and quirkiest trucks ever made by General Motors. Developed by Delphi Automotive, the Quadrasteer system is a clever four-wheel steering system offered by GM between 2002 and 2005. It was a kind of early version of the Hummer's "crab mode". The idea was to give GMC's big trucks a smaller turning circle. You'd really need that extra steering angle, because this option cost a whopping $7,000 when new. While the system is no doubt useful, it added an extra 285 pounds to the truck. Not many people went for this expensive option, with some sources suggesting it was around 5,000 in total. If you do happen to have a Sierra Quadrasteer, the last thing you might think of doing is adding a TRX Hellcat supercharger. But that is exactly what YouTuber LegitStreetCars has just done... The Supercharger Is Fitted - But Will It Run? YouTube/ LegitStreetCarsThe 2005 GMC Sierra in question has a 6-liter LS V8 under the hood which would be enough for most people, but not LegitStreetCars. "It got the updated and stronger connecting rods. This truck also came with the super strong 4L80 transmission. So, it's only really missing one thing, and that would be a Hellcat supercharger." The supercharger is donated from a Ram 1500 TRX and almost an hour of YouTube video is spent showing in detail how it is installed. This is a really cool, in-depth look at how the parts are fitted.Spoiler alert, but at the end of the video the truck struggles to idle, and needs a bit more work to get it running properly. But it is making Hellcat sounds. There is a Holly alternator to be fitted, as well as tweaking the fuel system. We can't wait to hear how this thing is going to sound.
