For those we have reported, the title of the piece will include a hyperlink, which will provide detailed information.Pony.ai Unveils New Autonomous Truck at IAAPony.ai and GAC Commercial Vehicle have unveiled a fourth-generation L4 autonomous heavy-duty truck at IAA Transportation in Hannover, Germany. Based on GAC's T9 battery-electric heavy truck, the new Robotruck marks Pony.ai's latest push to bring autonomous freight transportation into commercial use.The companies plan to start mass production this year, initially targeting long-haul logistics, fixed-route freight and port operations. The truck combines Pony.ai's fourth-generation autonomous driving system with GAC's fully redundant drive-by-wire chassis, covering key systems including steering, braking, power, communications, computing and sensing. The truck uses nine LiDARs, three millimeter-wave radars and 13 cameras for 360-degree perception. Pony.ai says the cost of its autonomous driving hardware package has fallen 70% from the previous generation, while transportation costs are expected to drop by about 30% per ton-kilometer.The launch also marks a major step in Pony.ai's global Robotruck strategy. The company plans to enter European and Middle Eastern markets within the next two years, expanding beyond its existing Robotaxi operations and bringing its China-developed autonomous trucking technology to logistics operators worldwide.Hesai Technology and JD.com Deepen Physical AI PartnershipAt JDDiscovery 2026, JD.com's global technology conference, Hesai Technology and JD.com announced a new strategic partnership focused on bringing Physical AI into real-world applications.JD.com showcased its latest progress in Physical AI, including a domestic 100,000-GPU computing cluster, plans to collect 10 million hours of embodied AI data, and its JoyAI series of world models. In logistics, JD Logistics also unveiled several new robot products. Its sixth-generation autonomous delivery vehicle, the "Lone Wolf" Plus, features Hesai's AT-series LiDAR and is capable of L4 autonomous driving for complex urban delivery environments, including mixed traffic.JD Logistics plans to procure 3 million robots, 1 million autonomous vehicles and 100,000 drones over the next five years, as it works to build what it describes as the world's largest embodied robotics fleet. Hesai's Picasso 6D full-color chip platform will serve as a key technology base for the partnership, allowing LiDAR to capture RGB and depth data natively and providing unified RGB-D data for Physical AI training.Hesai's ETX LiDAR, based on the upgraded platform, offers a maximum detection range of 600 meters and supports up to 4,320 scanning lines. The company's JT-series LiDAR, designed for robotics, will also adopt the Picasso platform and offers a 360-by-189-degree hemispherical field of view. The two companies plan to expand their cooperation across more real-world applications, accelerating the commercialization of Physical AI.GAC Group to acquire FAW's stake in automotive JVGAC Group announced on the evening of September 14 that it had signed a letter of intent with China FAW Corporation Limited earlier that day regarding a potential major asset restructuring. GAC plans to issue shares to acquire part of FAW's stake in an unnamed vehicle manufacturing joint venture while raising supporting funds. If completed, the transaction would make FAW GAC Group's second-largest shareholder, giving FAW strategic influence over GAC. GAC said the deal would constitute a major asset restructuring and connected transaction, but would not change its ultimate controlling shareholder or constitute a backdoor listing. The target joint venture has not yet been disclosed because it involves an overseas-listed company. GAC's A shares and Hong Kong-listed shares have been suspended, with the trading halt expected to last no more than 10 trading days. The company stressed that the agreement is still preliminary and remains subject to internal approvals and regulatory review. The potential deal comes amid a broader push for consolidation among China's state-owned automakers. It could signal deeper resource integration between centrally and locally administered auto groups, as Beijing encourages mergers and restructuring across the automotive industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
