While some other EV automakers have had a hard — or very hard — start to the year, NIO was absolutely popping in March. The company scored 35,486 deliveries in March, which was a whopping 136% increase year over year. Compared to February, it was a 70.6% increase. Note that I’m including two versions of each chart, as static images show better for some people and embedded charts show better for others. Overall, looking at the first quarter, the company achieved 83,465 deliveries, which was a 98.3% increase over the first quarter of 2025. Naturally, NIO the company is now split into a few different brands. Here are the key numbers for each of those: NIO: 22,490 vehicle deliveries, up 120.1% year-over-year and 48.4% month-over-month ONVO: 6,877 vehicle deliveries, up 42.7% year-over-year and 130.7% month-over-month firefly: 6,119 vehicle deliveries, up 130.3% month-over-month The company has more to look forward to, too. “The NIO ES9 Product and Technology Launch event will be held on April 9. Positioned as a flagship SUV with cutting-edge technology and executive luxury, the ES9 stands as the most advanced SUV of the year. It marks a milestone in NIO’s technological evolution and the culmination of NIO’s systemic innovation,” the company notes. I’ve compared NIO and XPENG sales for years, as they’ve followed quite similar sales growth trajectories. Sometimes one of them is up a bit more, but then the see-saw flips and the other rises above. More or less, though, their long-term sales charts look similar. At the moment, NIO is on the up and seeing the better numbers — see below for the latest comparison charts of these two EV startups. Overall, as of March 31, 2026, NIO has reached 1,081,057 cumulative vehicle deliveries.
