Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has released a fresh teaser of the new Mitsubishi Xforce, following the official announcement of the model earlier this week. The B-segment SUV’s order books will open in early February, MMM says. The actual car has been caught in the open, and you can see it here. The latest teaser video focuses on the Xforce’s dashboard and cabin. “Spacious, refined and thoughtfully designed for everyday practicality and comfort. Take a closer look at the interior of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce, designed for modern driving,” the caption reads. The images here are screenshots of the video. Among the details spotted are Yamaha ‘Coaxial-2Way’ door speakers, which means that we’ll be getting the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium System seen in other ASEAN markets. A branded audio system – from a name respected by audiophiles no less – is rare in the mainstream brand SUV field. Also unusual (in a good way, I love it) is the fabric-covered dash. The coarse texture and grey melange design adds a touch of special. Elsewhere, we can see that the Xforce’s dark-themed cabin has a good mix of screens and physical buttons. If we’re getting what Indonesia is having, the main infotainment screen will be a 12.3-inch unit, while the recessed digital meter panel is 8.0 inches wide. It’s a good thing that the AC control panel is a traditional one with buttons, and we can also see the SUV’s big boot and 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats. At 4,390 mm long and 1,810 mm wide, the Xforce sits between the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross in size, and is slightly larger than the recently-launched Perodua Traz and its Toyota Yaris Cross twin. The 2,650 mm wheelbase length beats the HR-V (2,610 mm), Traz (2,620 mm) Proton X50 (2,600 mm). The Mitsu is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot with 105 PS and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The 4A91 MIVEC unit is paired to a CVT gearbox. MMC’s patented Active Yaw Control (AYC) adjusts driving force between the two front wheels, and there’s a Wet driving mode to improve cornering and stability when the roads are wet. The Xforce has a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating and a full ADAS pack. More on it here. One can check out the Xforce in the metal as it embarks on a nationwide ‘roving truck activation’. From January 16-29, the truck will be going around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, before heading to Penang, Perak and Johor from February 5-15. It will also visit Kuantan and Kelantan before heading back to the Klang Valley from March 1-15. Exact locations and updates will be shared on MMM’s social media. Again, the Mitsubishi Xforce will be open for booking next month, and those who register their interest will enjoy exclusive product updates and announcements, invitations to roadshows and launch-related experiences, and access to early-bird notifications.
