The recall specifically affects J.Juan/Braktec calipers, which means the equivalent KTM models are not included, as they use Brembo components.As of this writing, we can only confirm the 2022-2024 Husqvarna FE 501s and FE 350s as well as the 2024 GasGas ES 350 and ES 500 dual-sports have been recalled through the U.S. National HIghway Traffic Safety Administration. Off-road models fall under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the agency has yet to confirm its own recall. In Canada, however, Transport Canada has announced a similar recall affecting enduro, cross country and motocross models as well. Should this happen, the rear brake calipers may be loose, affecting their effectiveness. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe problem first came up in March 2024, when KTM Austria Customer Service received a report of a primary pin fracture. KTM Austria proceeded to share the report with J.Juan, and both companies began an investigation. A root cause was identified in November 2024, leading to the development of a new brake caliper design, with the bracket width increased to 10.5 mm from 6.5 mm.multiple husqvarna and gasgas models recalled for faulty rear brakesOn April 16, 2026, Transport Canada contacted KTM NA regarding concerns over failures of Braktec (a J.Juan sub-brand) rear brake calipers. KTM NA and Austria reviewed Transport Canada's reports and found similarities with the earlier J.Juan calipers. Transport Canada initiated a recall on June 26, with NHTSA following on July 8. We expect the CPSC will follow suit shortly.Dealerships will replace the rear brake calipers on affected models.
