Corroded contacts may pose fire risk2017 2018 bmw c evolution scooters recalled for corroded wiringBMW is recalling the 2017 and 2018 C Evolution electric scooter because of a risk of corroded wiring that may lead to overheating or a fire. The recall affects 116 scooters in the U.S. market.According to recall documentation released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, water splashing from the front wheel may come in contact with the 12V battery's ground cable lug, which may lack sufficient waterproofing. It is possible that water may wick its way along the cable, due to capillary action, and reach the plug connector on the DC/DC converter. Over time, this may cause the electrical contacts to corrode, which can lead to localized heat generation and, in extreme cases, could pose a fire risk.2017 2018 bmw c evolution scooters recalled for corroded wiringBMW received a report of a thermal event on a 2020 C Evolution in another market on June 25, 2025.
