The MINI Countryman EV has been updated to travel further on a full charge. Thanks to a new silicon carbide inverter (this item managed to boost our CKD BMW i5‘s range from 582 to 627 km), a higher net battery capacity of 65.2 kWh (previously 64.6 net) and reduced front wheel bearing friction, the base E variant can now claim a WLTP range of 501 km and the SE All4, 467 km. That’s a significant jump from the previous 462 and 433 km. Funnily enough, MINI says boot space is “up to 1,450 litres” when it used to be 1,530. Whether the battery is now bigger or not is unclear, as the carmaker only mentions an increase in net capacity. The 30-minute 10-80% DC charging time is the same as before; the max rates should still be 130 kW DC and 22 kW AC. The SE All4 is the only zero-emissions Countryman available in Malaysia. This guy gives you 313 PS and 494 Nm of torque from a pair of electric motors, a 5.6-second 0-100 km/h time and a 180 km/h top speed – learn more here.
