Making Room for the Mission: Swivel Seat Install 101Renovating a van isn’t just about making it look good. It’s about maximizing every square inch of space so the “Adventure Mobile” actually functions as a home and a mobile studio. One of the biggest challenges in a small build is the “dead space” in the cab. Those front seats usually just face forward, taking up a huge chunk of the footprint when you’re parked.Last night, the missing piece of the puzzle arrived: the swivel seat base. I was super stoked to get this in. The goal was simple. I wanted to turn the passenger seat into a functional part of the living area. The 30-Minute TransformationI spent the morning diving into the install. The hardware is basically a heavy-duty rotating plate that sits between the seat and the van frame. It’s a pretty straightforward DIY task, but it makes a massive difference in the flow of the interior.AdvertisementAdvertisementI was hoping it would only take about 30 minutes. Surprisingly, it actually did. After unbolting the seat and getting the swivel mechanism locked down, the seat now rotates a full 180 degrees. It faces back toward the living space, essentially adding a lounge chair to my “living room” without adding any extra bulk.Opening Up the LayoutThe result? Incredible. Now, this whole front section of the van is usable space. Instead of being sectioned off, the cab and the back are one fluid environment. It changes the entire vibe of the build. It feels less like a cargo van and more like a home base where I can actually sit back, edit footage, and plan the next shoot. One step closer to hitting the road. Super stoked on how this turned out.
