They're close in price and power, and they leave the starting line side by side like they're welded together. It isn't until 130 mph that the Lucid noticeably pulls ahead. The Taycan outbrakes the Sapphire, but it's not enough to beat it out for second place.Marc urbano and michael simari - Car and DriverThe combustion-engine cars do their runs with a variety of screams and rumbles, while the electric entries whoosh past with a soundtrack of wind and tire noise. The Sapphire straight-up teleports. It's simply there at the start line, and then it's gone and stopped at the far end. There's little sound, no instability, and no drop-off in acceleration. On one run, the Sapphire came back dripping liquid from its front end. It had accelerated so hard, the washer-fluid cap popped off, and it stopped with such force that it sent a wave of fluid down the front fender.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Lucid uses two motors on its rear axle and one on its front to make its stampede. The power is so intense that Lucid had to develop a quicker-reacting traction-control system to rein it in. The computers are busy, but all the driver has to do is warm up the tires with a little weaving on the way to the starting line, put it in Track mode with the Dragstrip subsetting selected, then do the now-familiar brake-and-accelerator hold. The electrons do the rest.Marc urbano and michael simari - Car and DriverAlthough the Lucid stayed ahead of the Porsche, the results might flip in an endurance test. The Sapphire needed a cooldown after a few runs, whereas the Taycan kept laying down numbers even with back-to-back passes.Back to 0–150–0 Speed Test 2026You Might Also LikeGift Guide: Best Ride-On Electric Cars for KidsFuture Cars Worth Waiting For: 2025–2029
