Lexus Is Launching a ... Helicopter Service?ToyotaMuch as automakers usually are, Lexus has historically been focused primarily on building cars. The brand does have some ambitions outside of the typical four-wheeled world, though. It announced a yacht, the LY 680, for its seafaring enthusiasts in 2024. A recent concept reimagined the flagship LS sedan as both a six-wheeled van and an autonomous pod, directly appealing to customers whose idea of a car is particularly flexible. Now, the company is exploring new frontiers in the sky.It's called Lexus Flight, and it's a new helicopter service — a division of its parent company's existing Aero Toyota company, operating in Japan. Starting in late August, the new service will use a dedicated Lexus helicopter, along with other point-to-point transportation, to furnish travel to and from an unnamed set of destinations for its elite clientele.ToyotaAs you might expect from a unique helicopter prepared by Lexus, the seven-seat interior is complete with luxurious upholstery. The design might not exactly scream 'Lexus' at first glance, but the shapes and textures do share a passing resemblance with some options available on the new, radically re-imagined ES introduced earlier this year.LexusLexus says in a release that the launch of the service "[delivers] a seamless mobility across land, sea, and air" as it works to "redefine the very concept of mobility." While that might seem to suggest that this helicopter is also a car and a boat, it actually means that the point-to-point service connects with chauffeured Lexus car programs on the grounds at destinations as part of a fully Lexus-branded point-to-point travel service.
