Long bonnet, flat roof, sloping rear: Jaguar has retained the eye-catching design of the concept car for the Type 01. Jaguar Land Rover/dpaJaguar has unveiled the Type 01, an all-electric four-door grand tourer and the first production model in its planned EV-focused revival, the British luxury carmaker said.Built on Jaguar's new JEA platform, the Type 01 follows the cancellation of an electric sedan and the end of production for several existing models. The car retains the bold, angular styling first shown in Jaguar's Type 00 concept, which sparked strong reactions when it was revealed. The Type 01 features a 118-kWh usable battery, an 850-volt electrical architecture and a claimed range of about 644 kilometres. Jaguar said a 350-kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes. The car also has all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, a 50:50 weight distribution and silicon-carbide inverters. In the cockpit there's a 24-inch OLED screen ahead of the driver, alongside a secondary seven-inch readout between the driver and front passenger for additional features. With 757 kW (1,015 hp) and 1,365 Nm (1,007 lb-ft) of torque, the Type 01 is expected to cost about $120,000 to $130,000.Jaguar had announced in November 2024 that it was resetting itself as an electric luxury brand and planned three new models by the end of the decade. The brand's original Type 00 concept in December 2024 was met with much criticism at its unveiling.
