Jackery is launching its latest generation of HomePower batteries, including the HomePower 1000 v2, HomePower 2000 Plus v2 and HomePower 3600 Pro Max. All are being offered with limited-time promotion pricing on the Jackery website from today, June 23rd, through to June 26th. In signature charcoal and high-visibility orange cases, Jackery’s scalable HomePower line can be used in a range of applications, from portable power to home backup to UPS for sensitive electronics and more. The three new models are tailored to fit different customer needs and provide a level of resilience in the face of potential grid instability and utility price uncertainty. New LFP cells offer over 6000 cycles for more than 16 years of daily use. That is up from 10+ years on the previous generation. Of course, not everyone will use the battery on a daily basis, especially if it is being used primarily for recreation or emergencies. HomePower 2000 Plus v2. At 41.5 lb., the new model weighs less than a 5-gallon water cooler bottle. That weight might still be a challenge for some people, but it is much easier to lift and move than many competing portable power sources. While known for their light weight, a Honda EU2000i portable generator with 1800W rated and 2200W peak (versus 2400W rated and 3800W peak for the 2000 Plus v2) still weighs more at 47.4 lb. dry. Not to mention the need to carry combustible liquid fuel, the noise or the exhaust, making the Honda generator unsuitable for indoor use. HomePower 1000 v2. Image credit: Jackery If the HomePower 2000 Plus v2 isn’t portable enough, Jackery also has the HomePower 1000 v2 at 23.4 lbs. This model shares the 1024Wh capacity of the sleek, new FridgeGuard. While the HomePower 1000 v2 lacks the style and slim form factor of the FridgeGuard, it makes up for it in versatility with a folding handle, three outlets, USB-C chargers and a 12V DC plug. While both can work as a UPS, with less than 10ms switchover and 3kV surge protection, the HomePower 1000 v2 would be better suited for applications where function takes priority over form. Image Credit: Jackery On the other end of the size spectrum, the HomePower 3600 Pro Max offers 3584Wh of storage but is scalable with add-on batteries up to 43kWh. That is enough to power a home through a multi-day blackout. The battery has the ability to output 240V and 120V at the same time. This has the potential to electrify appliances that require 240V and are used regularly, but not continuously. Like how the integrated buffer battery works in the Copper induction range on 120V. The HomePower 3600 Pro Max can power appliances that draw less than 4000kW continuous and 8000kW peak. In addition, the battery can take up to 1800W from a 120V AC outlet or up to 1200W from solar panels while it outputs power. That could stretch the capacity to provide extended 240V output from a single battery. Theoretically, a 240V appliance with intermittent operation that is under the power rating of the battery and has total daily energy consumption that is less than the 43.2kWh (1800W x 24hr) that can be supplied by a 120V plug could be used without additional electrical upgrades. That could be very effective for older homes trying to electrify major appliances. However, in places where a 40A 240V plug is available, the battery can charge up to 4000W. When used as a home backup, a built-in Auto Transfer Switch, combined with a manual transfer switch, saves up to $3000 over a traditional whole home backup install, according to Jackery. Meanwhile Jackery Priority Routing™ disconnects non-essentials first in a power disruption to maintain critical devices, making the most of the battery capacity. Credit: Jackery When used to shift power consumption on Time Of Use (TOU) utility plans, Jackery claims the HomePower 3600 Pro Max can save up to $4238 yearly. “Based on a configuration of 1 main unit and 5 expansion batteries, this estimated annual savings is achieved using Time-of-Use mode, calculated at California electricity rates.” If you were to extrapolate those numbers to a single main unit, it would work out to be over $700 saved per year. For homes with solar systems, the battery can store any excess energy and then use it later, when the grid is under the most strain and prices are highest. Depending on TOU specifics, the 3600 Pro Max could pay for itself in a few years, within the 5-year warranty coverage, with the specific payback depending on the purchase price. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. The HomePower 3600 Pro Max cost $1,699 ($2,999 MSRP). Meanwhile, the HomePower 2000 Plus v2 comes in at $899 ($1,799 MSRP) and the HomePower 1000 v2 is priced at $499 ($849.00 MSRP). Additional promotions extend to accessories and bundles, with further details on the Jackery website. At those prices, the batteries have a strong value proposition with potential ROI in several different applications, in addition to the reassurance of having safe backup power. However, maximizing the value and potential ROI will require energy management and coordination, but that is for another article. HomePower 3600 Pro Max. Image credit: Jackery Jackery has a clear focus on designing for customer needs in a range of usage scenarios, as seen in their recent product launches. That has led to versatile products that are compelling to many customers, with 7 million units sold over the past 14 years. Their customer focus also has Jackery well positioned for the next phase of batteries, as adoption goes mainstream. As Steven Wang, CEO of Jackery puts it: We approached the HomePower series with an entirely new mindset. For today’s families, a backup power system is no longer an optional gadget, but a reliable household appliance. This means the user experience must be intuitive, dependable, and tailor-made for the home. That is exactly what the HomePower series delivers.
