The company delivered ten units and plans to hand over the remaining vehicles later this year. The recent deployment marks the first time Switch Mobility has commissioned intercity coaches for a private company.“The flag-off marks another important step in expanding electric mobility beyond cities and strengthening our presence in the intercity segment. This partnership reflects the growing confidence in electric buses for high-frequency routes like Mumbai–Pune, where performance, reliability, and efficiency are critical,” said Switch Mobility CEO Ganesh Mani. This is also the first time Purple Bus has deployed electric buses on an intercity route.“Entering the intercity segment with electric mobility is a significant milestone for us. Through this collaboration, we are introducing a cleaner and more efficient travel option on the Mumbai–Pune route,” said Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions CMD Prasanna Patwardhan.Switch Mobility is fulfilling the new order using the EiV12, a 12-metre model that it manufactures in four versions: intercity, low-floor, staff and tarmac. The intercity version measures 12 m in length, 2,.6 m in width and 3.48 m in height, along with a 6.4 m wheelbase. It has a 1.05 m floor height, 45 pushback seats and air suspension at both ends. The EiV12’s intercity version features a 235 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 423 kWh LFP battery pack, which can be charged via a CCS2 dual-gun charger. This setup allows it to achieve a maximum speed of 80 km/h and travel more than 300 kilometres on a single charge. Switch Mobility states a charging time of two to three hours, without specifying the charging rate or state of charge (SoC).In another recent development, Switch Mobility commissioned a fleet of the EiV12 at the Navi Mumbai International Airport last week, in its tarmac version. The company has deployed more than 2,500 electric buses and over 2,500 electric light commercial vehicles to date.linkedin.com
