Full of compromises, it manages to get away with it because it's a Jeep, something that provides more than just the pedestrian SUV experience. So much of that is tied to the features found in the Recon, of which there are many. First, you unhook the wiring harness from the footwell, then you flip up the hinge pin, which you really don't want to lose, and then you lift the door off.The process is unbelievably user-friendly and fast. You'd be remiss not to try it if you've bought one, as the whole doors-off experience is almost exclusive to the Jeep brand, and certainly to its sole electric off-roader. The doors are pretty heavy, though, but Jeep provides storage so they fit nicely into the trunk, which means you won't have to go far.Next, Take Out The WindowsChase BierenkovenView the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleGetting the windows out is a similarly quick, easy experience. The rear window is the only one that requires you to remove a wiring harness, which is held on by a simple magnetic connector you can easily pull and store in the rear hinged door. After that, two buttons will allow a simple quarter-turn of the window's latches, located at the top of the frame.AdvertisementAdvertisementGetting the back glass stored and lifted around the tire can be a little cumbersome, but it's easy enough. Jeep puts a storage cubby under the charger tray in the Recon, but rather than make you feed a cable along the outside of the center console, you can run a cable right through the tray and into the larger cubby for charging other devices. This is what their buyers expect, and Jeep delivered while sacrificing range and on-road manners. Basically, this is an electric Wrangler. The Recon cleared about two feet of standing water with ease, and crept its way down a slick rock-crawl section with ease.While I wish I had the opportunity to push the Jeep Recon a bit more off-road, it's clear the bones are there.
