Beating The OddsWe all know the world prefers SUVs; it's a trend that seems to keep growing, with more and more people wanting to ride taller, wider cars. Family cars used to come in the form of MPVs, Wagons, and even mid-sized sedans, but the latter has slowly dwindled, with fewer and fewer offerings in the mid-sized segment.Despite this, some automakers still have mid-sized cars; the Camry and the Accord, for example, are still beating the odds. Hyundai's Sonata has also been around for quite some time now, and will continue for a little while longer with a newly updated version just launched.Hyundai2027 Sonata "The Edge"Hyundai just announced that they reworked the aging Sonata for 2027, specifically the Sonata "The Edge." This updated Sonata debuts in its home country of South Korea. For the 2027 model, one of the new updates to the Sonata lineup is the addition of the new Black N Line variant. The black N Line is based on the range-topping Inspiration variant, with added black exterior elements found only on the Black N Line trim.According to Hyundai, the black N Line trim now looks stronger and more dynamic with the addition of a black Hyundai logo and model-name lettering. Also complementing the black badges are the new 19-inch matte black rims. The interior also gets upgrades: the S variant's front seats are now 4-way power-adjustable, and the formerly exclusive Camel-colored interior is now available in the lower-end Exclusive trim. Otherwise, Hyundai has kept the 2027 Sonata the same in terms of features and powertrains.HyundaiStrong U.S. SalesThe announcement of the 2027 Sonata The Edge is currently for the South Korean market. However, given the Sonata's performance in the U.S., it may receive the refreshed Sonata. Just last month, the Sonata recorded a sales spike of 39% (year-on-year), following a stronger performance in August, tallying a 44% jump.Furthermore, the Sonata's hybrid powertrain proved useful because, during the height of the fuel price jump, Sonata sales peaked at 85% year-on-year in spring and summer. The U.S. Sonata lineup largely mirrors the South Korean one, except for the new Black N Line variant.2026 Hyundai Sonata HybridHyundai
