A magazine advertisement for the 1964 Buicks, Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs, showing how they are tortured at test tracks around the USA.In 1964, General Motors wanted car buyers to know they tortured the living daylights out of their cars at the company's testing facilities. There was Phoenix for dusty heat, Pikes Peak for steep, snowy grades, Michigan for 4,011 acres of challenges, and the rest of the country for general punishment. This magazine advertisement shows a Buick opening it up in an endurance run, an Oldsmobile cutting a path through mountain snow, a Pontiac tackling the desert's heat and dust, and a Cadillac taking a mud bath in Florida.
