On October 8, Foton Motor and ZYT signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving solutions for commercial vehicles, according to a post on Foton Motor's WeChat account. The partnership will combine Foton' s vehicle development and manufacturing capabilities with ZYT' s intelligent driving technologies to accelerate large-scale production and commercial deployment, supporting the commercial vehicle industry' s transition toward intelligent and connected mobility.Image Source: Foton MotorThe cooperation covers a broad range of commercial vehicle applications, including highway and national-road navigation assistance for heavy-duty trucks, highway Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) for intercity travel, autonomous Robovan logistics vehicles, urban NOA for light commercial vehicles, the expansion of advanced driving technologies into overseas markets, and pilot programs for market access of L3- and L4-level intelligent connected vehicles.Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop driving solutions for heavy-duty trucks, light commercial vehicles and autonomous logistics vehicles. ZYT will contribute its model algorithms, multi-sensor fusion technology and domain controllers, while Foton will provide vehicle control, chassis adaptation and vehicle integration expertise. Development will begin with highway trunk-line applications before expanding to more complex environments, including urban roads and national highways. The partners also plan to optimize their supply chains to deliver cost-effective solutions suitable for large-scale deployment. The companies will work together on regulatory applications and demonstration operations for advanced autonomous driving. They also plan to explore overseas opportunities in the Middle East, South America, Australia and New Zealand, drawing on their respective resources to expand the international application of Chinese commercial vehicle intelligent driving technologies and products.Foton Motor General Manager Lu Zhenghua said the partnership was an important step in implementing the company' s strategy of comprehensive internationalization, new energy development and intelligent transformation. By combining Foton' s vehicle manufacturing and global operations with ZYT' s driving technology, the companies aim to translate intelligent driving capabilities into practical operational benefits, including lower costs, greater efficiency and improved transport safety. Lu added that the cooperation would support Foton' s transition from a commercial vehicle manufacturer to a provider of integrated intelligent commercial vehicle solutions.ZYT Technology CEO Shen Shaojie said commercial vehicle intelligence must ultimately deliver safer transportation, reduce driver workload and lower operating costs. He said the company' s unified mobile intelligence platform and advanced AI models would be adapted in collaboration with Foton for applications ranging from heavy-duty trucks and light commercial vehicles to autonomous logistics, supporting phased deployment from long-haul transport to urban distribution. ZYT aims to work with Foton over the long term to advance the practical deployment of mobile physical AI in commercial vehicles and support the technology' s expansion into international markets.
