Gasgoo Munich-Sunwoda Power and JD.com have officially signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Shenzhen. The two companies will launch comprehensive, in-depth collaboration centered on standardized new energy battery products, smart logistics, supply chain coordination, and green energy services. Together, they aim to drive the high-quality development of the new energy battery industry.Image Source: SunwodaJD.com’s business footprint spans retail, logistics, technology, healthcare, industrial development, industrial products, international business, and local services. This gives the e-commerce giant extensive application scenarios for the robotics industry and robust market channel resources.Leveraging its full-link supply chain advantages, JD.com has mobilized its ecosystem and supply chain partners to establish internal corporate standards. By standardizing robot battery dimensions, interfaces, communication protocols, and key performance and safety metrics, the company is developing a series of “standardized battery” products. The goal is to cut R&D and maintenance costs while accelerating development timelines.Notably, in early August this year, JD.com and Sunwoda joined forces with the China Electronics Standardization Institute to launch a joint laboratory for robot batteries in Beijing. The lab focuses on standard development, product creation, testing and validation, and typical applications for robot batteries.Under the agreement, the partnership will target seven major application areas for JD.com’s standardized batteries. Battery models—ranging from Lithium Battery 1 to Lithium Battery 8—cover scenarios including power tools, electric wheelchairs, robot batteries, two- and three-wheeled vehicles, autonomous and unmanned logistics vehicles, drones, and ships. The two companies will form special task forces to oversee the entire chain, from technical breakthroughs and product definition to joint development and large-scale promotion.Structurally, the collaboration will advance along three fronts: joint development of core technologies and shared standards, innovation in business cooperation models, and the establishment of a long-term coordination mechanism. Initiatives include jointly submitting research projects, driving industry and group standard formulation, exploring cooperation models for standardized battery swapping services, and deepening integration in procurement, supply chain coordination, and joint market expansion. This partnership marks the full-scale launch of cooperation between Sunwoda Power and JD.com in the new energy sector. Both parties stated that by leveraging their combined strengths, they aim to drive the standardization of the battery industry, accelerate the industrial application of solid-state and semi-solid-state battery technologies, and build a full-chain green energy service ecosystem spanning “R&D, manufacturing, application, and recycling.”
