Ford has spent lots of time, money, and energy on its EcoBoost line of twin-turbocharged V6 engines found in the F-150 pickup, but America's favorite vehicle still offers the good ol' 5.0-liter V8 for customers who are so inclined. It's that engine that forms the basis of the Shelby American F-150, which features an aftermarket supercharger to crank things up to 785 horsepower. If you'd like to do your best to rival that machine – but would still like something covered by a manufacturer's warranty – Ford Racing Parts will now offer a direct-order supercharger kit for all 2026 Blue Ovals equipped with the five-oh. A Supercharger Kit For Everyone That grouping includes the pickup truck and its Ford Mustang GT and Dark Horse siblings. On the F-150, power output rises to 700 horsepower and 590 pound-feet, an obvious and massive improvement from the stock V8's 400 horses and 410 torques. It's even more grunt than the F-150 Raptor's high-output EcoBoost V6, which makes 450 hp and 510 lb-ft. In fact, the Ford Racing supercharger kit nearly catches the 720-hp, 630-lb-ft supercharged 5.2-liter V8 in the Raptor R.Ford Racing PartsThe Mustang is even more aggressive, producing up to 810 hp and 615 lb-ft on cars equipped with the active valved exhaust. Even without it, power only drops by 10 horses, putting the FRP supercharger ahead of the aforementioned 5.2 found in the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, where it made 760 hp and 625 lb-ft. The engine, nicknamed Predator, will also arrive in the Mustang Dark Horse SC, but Ford hasn't announced power for that model yet – we do wonder if the company will allow such a product to outshine its factory-built muscle car.FordThat said, a Mustang with the supercharger kit likely wouldn't be much competition for the Dark Horse SC, which will feature much of the handling and performance kit of the bygone GT500, including its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. By contrast, the Ford Racing Parts supercharger kit will be available for any Mustang with the V8, ranging from a stripped GT coupe with a manual transmission and no options to a non-SC Dark Horse without the fancy dual-clutch gearbox. The supercharger would even be a greaet addition to a hard-loaded, auto-shifted GT Premium convertible – all the better to hear that Whipple whine. Plenty Of Boost, Plenty Of Coverage Unlike some aftermarket parts, the direct-buy Ford Racing kit is covered by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty of its own, and since it's fitted to the vehicle before sale, it doesn't void the standard factory warranty either. Better still, customers can order a vehicle equipped with the supercharger kit directly from their local Ford dealer, without having to take multiple steps after the sale to boost their power output. In our estimation, the Ford Racing Parts supercharger is a match made in heaven for the F-150 Lobo, which debuted a few months ago with a sinister design and a few handling upgrades but no changes under the hood. Those of us hoping for an SVT Lightning were left a little disappointed, but now that there's a supercharger on the menu at the Ford dealer, we'll find it in our hearts to forgive. Then again, if we're going to the trouble to build a modern sport truck, we might skip the Lobo entirely to build a blown F-150 single-cab shortbed – as a certain tuner has done.
