According to Ford Pro, the vehicles have been adapted to suit a range of operational requirements in public transport, including maintenance, service, and material transport across Berlin. The E-Transit Custom is equipped with a battery offering a usable capacity of 64 kWh and a power output of 100 kW. Its combined WLTP range reaches up to 331 kilometres, with up to 443 kilometres achievable in urban traffic. The larger E-Transit features a 68 kWh battery, a power output of 135 kW, and delivers up to 317 kilometres in the combined WLTP cycle, or up to 403 kilometres in urban traffic. Depending on the configuration, a loading volume of up to 15.1 cubic metres is available. The new battery-electric vans will support BVG’s ongoing electrification strategy. At the end of June, the company commissioned a DC fast-charging station for electric buses at Marzahn S-Bahn station. In parallel, BVG is continuing to expand its charging and depot infrastructure. By 2027, an additional 270 battery-electric buses are set to be procured, increasing the number of electric buses to around 550. This would mean roughly one-third of the bus fleet, which comprises around 1,500 vehicles, would be electric.ford.com (in German)
