Dutch carmaker Donkervoort has unveiled the P24 RS, its most powerful model yet, says the firm. After the five-cylinder F22, the P24 RS boasts of a dry-sumped 3.5 litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine with variable power and torque outputs of up to 600 hp at 5,500 rpm and 800 Nm at 4,500 rpm. Outputs go to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission with a switchable rev-matching function, and a Torsen limited-slip differential. In terms of performance, Donkervoort claims a 0-100 km/h time that is “appropriate”, while 0-200 km/h is attained in 7.4 seconds, onwards to a top speed of over 300 km/h. Measuring 4,000 mm long, 1,912 mm wide and 1,105 mm tall with a 2,420 mm wheelbase and front and rear wheel track widths of 1,630 mm and 1,645 mm, the Donkervoort P24 RS weighs a claimed 780 kg dry, or 840 kg DIN. The P24 RS will accommodate drivers up to 2.05 m tall with the carbon-fibre targa roof panels in place. Chassis construction is a hybrid of alloy tubing and carbon-fibre components by Ex-Core, the latter used in the engine bay, windscreen frame and the front crash structure. Donkervoort claims an industry-first innovation in the Fort-Ex front subframe structure, made from a single piece of carbon-fibre and weighs just nine kg. The built-up module is comprised of carbon-fibre crash cones, front suspension and brake assemblies, aero elements and cooling package, and the module has been designed to be sub-assembled and fitted like the front clip of an endurance race car. An optional aero kit can be specified for increased downforce and cooling. Comprised of front and rear corner wings, the aero kit – in conjunction with the underfloor and rear double diffuser – brings 90 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, without diminishing the 300+ km/h top speed, says Donkervoort. Suspension is by double wishbones in front and a multi-link rear suspension layout, with anti-dive and anti-squat geometry. The dampers can be optioned with remote ride height adjustment, along adjustable damper stiffness. Rolling stock is a set of Nankang CR-S tyres developed for Donkervoort, measuring 235/40R18 in front and 275/35R19 at the rear on custom alloy wheels. The P24 RS can generate up to 2.3 g of lateral acceleration. Meanwhile, braking is be AP Racing fixed-caliper brakes on semi-floating discs, with optional carbon-ceramic discs saving 1.3 kg per corner, and delivering up to 1.3 g of deceleration. Touting a “driver-first” philosophy, the P24 RS does without power-assisted steering and ABS, though both can be optionally specified, and other driving aids are limited to adjustable traction control and engine output levels, selectable between 400 hp, 500 hp and 600 hp. The cabin of the P24 RS features a digital instrument cluster and an optional bracket for an iPad Mini-based multimedia system, while buttons and dials continue to be used for the most important functions. The removable steering wheel houses controls for lighting, indicators, horn and wiper, as well as the menu display for the instrument cluster. The centre console houses the electric parking brake and controls for engine output, traction control and suspension, as well as a concealed storage area. At the rear of the P24 RS is a luggage compartment that holds up to 298 litres, or about the same as a compact hatchback, says Donkervoort. According to Autocar, the Donkervoort P24 RS is priced at 298,500 euros (RM1,402,711), with 50 units out of the limited, 150-unit run already spoken for.
