The Dodge Durango might be the most 'Murican of SUVs. A muscular body, a chassis well over a decade old, and a trio of V8 engines that range from rumble to scream in their power outputs. Naturally, the Durango is getting a special edition to celebrate the country's 250th anniversary. But the Durango America250 comes standard with a V6, and surprisingly few new extras. If you want more power, you'll need to find those bootstraps and get to pulling. If The Durango Didn't Have Enough Bald Eagles Already Dodge Dodge calls it the Durango GT America250 edition, or the Durango A250 for short. America250 is no typo; this is part of an official partnership with that organization, which is in charge of leading the country's 250th birthday party and celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In typical Stellantis special edition fashion, this one unlocks features normally reserved for higher-trims. In this case, starting with the black Laguna leather seats. The GT is normally cloth only, but the leather chairs add a flag embossment on the seat back along with blue accents for the perforated section.Dodge It also has red and white accent stitching, which is probably meant to work with the blue perforations for a flag motif. It doesn't, it just makes this look like a special edition for Switzerland, or Japan, or maybe Canada. The seat belts are also red, and the cabin has carbon fiber trim.If you pick White Knuckle paint, you can get special stripes, too. The Stars and Stripes motif runs from the front bumper and up over the hood and roof. All models get an America250 flag decal on the fender.Even the keychain is special, with a custom leather tag. It has America250 and Dodge logos on one side, and "an American flag printed-cloth graphic" on the other. V6, V8, But No 392 Or Hellcat Dodge The Durango GT A250 edition starts with a Durango GT Plus AWD with the 295-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. The price starts from $49,590 before destination, making it a $3,995 way to get leather seats and some stickers. The 360-hp 5.7-liter GT Hemi Plus is a relative bargain over that at $51,270, or you can get a Hemi Premium for $54,270.Dodge is opening the order books this month. No word on when deliveries start, but if they aren't showing up by July 4, then Dodge has made a grave error. This makes Dodge the third brand to announce a vehicle that celebrates 250 years of the USA. Late last week, Ram announced a trio of patriotic-painted trucks with flag decals and an on-screen start-up celebration. At the end of 2025, Chevrolet announced it would build commemorative Stars & Steel collection models of the Silverado, Colorado, and the Corvette, with $250 from each going to veteran support nonprofits. One of those Corvettes was a very special ZR1X. The one-of-one ZR1X sold for $2.6 million at a charity auction earlier this year. That leaves Ford as the last of the Detroit Three without a special edition. Since the F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America for most of those 250 years, and it comes with flag logos on the dashboard already, we're expecting one soon.
