Source: Brembo Source: Brembo Thanks to a particular truck that we'd rather not name, there's been a lot of talk over the last few years of fully electric, mechanically disconnected steering, and if that is a good thing for the automotive world-and society overall-or not. Well, the next iteration of wire-driven systems is here, and it comes by way of brake mega-manufacturer Brembo, which has cooked up the first modern iteration and application of non-hydraulic brakes. Source: Brembo Source: Brembo Brembo gave us a taste of its Sensify system back in 2022, and word was that the "differences are instantly noticeable." The fully integrated, computer-controlled electronic braking system was set to revolutionize brakes in the modern era. Smoother and shorter stops were the main selling points, but they also managed to eliminate traditional ABS feedback when doing a panic stop. All of this is done without any brake fluid whatsoever-hence the fluid-free claim-and promises zero brake fade. As great as the promise was, it all still felt a bit like a pipe dream. Well, the concept is now a reality, and Sensify production is now underway. "Designed to orchestrate the entire corner ecosystem, it supports safer mobility, while paving the way for the next generation of software-defined vehicles, reflecting our long-term purpose of shaping a Zero Accident Future." The technological beauty of Brembo's Sensify tech is the modularity. Brembo says Sensify can be adapted to existing vehicles, and it can also be laid in as part of the framework of a new platform. Likewise, the modularity means this is a fully zonal setup, so each corner can be controlled entirely independently of each other. Source: Brembo Source: Brembo With cars becoming increasingly software-defined, it was really only a matter of time before the brake system became part of that integration. Thankfully, it's a proven, trustworthy, and reliable brake brand like Brembo pioneering the tech, and not a startup just chucking its beta test out at the public. Chances are that if Brembo stands behind it, things are well sorted. What we don't know, however, is which vehicle Sensify will first debut with. It would be natural to expect the first car (or truck) touting this massively innovative tech to be something exotic, but Brembo says Sensify can and will be used on more "normal" vehicles as well. Showcased on the brand's Sensify product page are Teslas and Nissans, but the logos are blurred out, so take that with a grain of salt. Brembo says Sensify is "now fitted as standard on 100% of vehicles in an active production program," except the supplier won't say which vehicle it is. 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Hybrid: All the Details
