2025 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe
Base MSRP  $91,700
Engine  3.0L Turbo I6 | 4.4L V8 Turbo
Horsepower  335 hp (3.0L) | 523 hp (4.4L)

The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is currently the highest-rated model in this price range, with a BuzzScore of 8.8 out of 10. There are four versions of this BMW, but only the base model 840i starts below 100k. The rear-wheel-drive 840i and 840i xDrive Gran Coupe have base prices of $91,700 and $94,700, respectively. Both versions have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder engine that makes 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The 840i can hit sixty miles per hour in about 4.9 seconds while the xDrive version does it in 4.6 seconds. Being a luxury car, this BMW also has some nice features inside, like a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and automatic four-zone climate controls. Beyond the feature count, the interior is flawlessly built and has a lot more rear-seat space than the two-door 8 Series.

In base form, it's stunningly beautiful with a magnificent interior, a wealth of standard equipment, and a fantastic transmission.

Porsche Taycan

2025 Porsche Taycan
Base MSRP  $99,400
Engine  Electric
Horsepower  402 hp

Next up on our list of the best cars between $75k and $100k is the Porsche Taycan, which just barely fits into this category with the base model starting at $99,400. The base model is powered by a single electric motor driving the rear wheels with 402 horsepower. This version of the Taycan can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 143 mph. The single-motor Taycan is also estimated to reach a maximum of 274 miles of range, which is up from 206 miles of estimated range in the 2024 model.

What sets the Taycan apart from many other large EVs is its athletic responses and how well it disguises its weight. It's fun to drive, yet comfortable on the highway for four people.

BMW iX

2025 BMW iX
Base MSRP  $87,250
Engine  Electric
Horsepower  516-610 hp

The second all-electric vehicle within our price range is the BMW iX. While there are two versions to choose from, only the iX xDrive50 falls under the 100k price cap. This version has a starting price of $87,250. It comes with standard all-wheel drive from two electric motors, makes a maximum of 516 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque, reaches 60 from a standstill in 4.4 seconds, and has a top speed of 124 mph. BMW estimates a max range between 303 and 309 miles. The iX also has plenty of comfort and convenience features. Some highlights include automatic four-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, and three-stage heated front seats. An updated 2026 BMW iX is waiting in the wings.

Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

N/A

2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
Base MSRP  $95,595
Engine  6.2L Supercharged V8 Gas
Horsepower  668 hp

Returning to the spirit of gasoline power, this 100k car is one of our favorites. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is fast and loud with a large engine while keeping Cadillac luxury throughout. This Cadillac starts at $95,595 before taxes, destination charges, and options. Under the hood is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that makes 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque. With that much power connected to a standard six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, the CT5-V Blackwing can reach 60 mph from rest in just 3.4 seconds and hit over 200 miles per hour. It has a few upgrades for the 2025 model year, including a 33-inch digital gauge cluster and infotainment system, and some suspension tuning with the Precision Package.

The surprising softness is complemented by talkative steering that feels natural and not overly assisted. It gives feedback to the driver, which is more than could be said for the steering in most modern cars. Then there's the manual transmission, which delivers a satisfying feeling every time you change gear.

BMW M4 Coupe

/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/gallery-images/original/1224000/800/1224840.jpg

2025 BMW M4 Coupe
Base MSRP  $79,100
Engine  3.0L Twin-Turbo Inline-6 Gas
Horsepower  473 hp

The BMW M4 Coupe is one of the 80k cars you buy if you're in search of raw, unbridled performance. There are three models, and all three of them fit within our price range. The base model M4 Coupe starts at $79,700, the M4 Competition Coupe starts at $83,900, and the M4 Competition xDrive Coupe has a base price of $89,000. They all feature a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine that makes different horsepower depending on which trim you choose. The M4 Coupe has 473 hp, the M4 Competition Coupe has 503 hp, and the M4 Competition xDrive coupe has 523 hp. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph for all versions, but that can be increased to 180 mph with the M Driver's package.

The M4 remains one of the best driver's cars in its class. Handling and grip are brilliant, it can be had with an engaging manual, and every version is quick.

Though the Competition model is quicker with the eight-speed automatic, we urge buyers to consider the base M4 with its six-speed manual transmission. The M4 is one of the few performance coupes left on the market with a manual option, and it's a pretty great one. BMW has perfectly positioned the pedals for heel-toe downshifts, which are made even easier with some computer assistance. The clutch feels easy to modulate in traffic, and doesn't need to be ridden in first gear to maximize smoothness.

Audi SQ7

2025 Audi SQ7
Base MSRP  $90,800
Engine  4.0L Twin-Turbo V8
Horsepower  500 hp

It's not hard to find 90k cars in Audi's lineup. One of our favorites, with a BuzzScore of 8.4 out of 10, is the Audi SQ7. This luxury SUV starts at a base price of $90,800. Being the sportier version of the regular Q7, the SQ7 is more powerful and has a few changes to the exterior, like a quad-tip exhaust. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 500 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. Combined with Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SQ7 can run the 0-60 sprint in four seconds flat. It can also reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

Although the third row isn't massive, occupants seated anywhere else will be extremely comfortable. The cabin features quality materials and many amenities.

2025 BMW M4 Convertible
Base MSRP  $95,300
Engine  3.0L Twin-Turbo Inline-6 Gas
Horsepower  523 hp

The next BMW on our list is the M4 Convertible. Unlike the coupe, which has three versions to choose from, the convertible keeps it simple with only one choice. The M4 Competition xDrive Convertible starts at a base price of $96,000. Under the hood is the same powertrain as the coupe; the 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that makes 523 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Since it has standard all-wheel drive, the M4 convertible can hit 60 in just 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour, or 174 miles per hour with the M Driver's Package. Inside this BMW, you'll find a curved digital display with a 12.3-inch gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Ford F-150

2025 Ford F-150
Base MSRP  $38,710
Engine  2.7L V6 Turbo | 5.0L V8 | 3.5L V6 Turbo | 3.5L V6 Turbo Hybrid
Horsepower  325 hp (2.7L) | 400 hp (V8 and 3.5L V6) | 430 hp (3.5L V6 Hybrid)

Perhaps the least-expected model on this list, the latest Ford F-150—one of America's most popular new vehicles for over four decades—starts at under $40k but can cost far more as you ascend the trim ladder. Both the King Ranch and Platinum trims begin at $74,905, but exceed $75k once you add the destination charge. At this level, power is derived from the brand's 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine with 400 hp, or you can pay a little extra for the 430-hp hybrid version. Equipped with options like 22-inch wheels, full quilted leather seats, and a twin-panel moonroof, the price of the F-150 quickly flies past $90,000. It's not necessary to spend this much on an F-150, but the option is there for truck fans who want the best.

Audi S6

N/A

2025 Audi S6
Base MSRP  $75,900
Base Trim Engine  2.9L V6
Base Trim Horsepower  444 hp

Among the best cars under 80k, we're back to the luxury side of the market with the Audi S6. This luxurious and sporty German sedan starts at $75,900. Under the hood is a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 444 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. With standard Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the S6 can hit 60 in well under five seconds. Inside this Audi, you can still expect modern luxury with a 12.3-inch customizable digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. It's more understated than rivals, but few can match the S6's mix of surefooted handling and superb comfort.

BMW 8 Series Coupe

/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/gallery-images/original/947000/500/947599.jpg

2025 BMW 8 Series Coupe
Base MSRP  $91,700
Engine  3.0L I6 Turbo | 4.4L V8 Turbo
Horsepower  335 hp (3.0L) | 523 hp (V8)

The last BMW we'll bring up on this list is the 8 Series Coupe. While the M8 Coupe may have been discontinued, the regular 8 Series continues its legacy. Out of two available options, the 840i and the M850i xDrive, only the 840i is under $100k. The BMW 840i Coupe starts at $91,700, and the 840i xDrive Coupe has a base price of $94,700. Powering both the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder engine that makes 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The RWD version can hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds while the AWD version does it in 4.4 seconds. Both have the usual BMW luxury that buyers have come to expect, but rear-seat space is very cramped.
