Bentley's New Flying Spur S Caters to DriversBentley (Bentley)The 2027 Bentley Flying Spur has been redesigned to look more like its two-door sibling, with both now featuring single headlights. The latest generation of Bentley's uber-sedan offers more power, more seating configurations, and the ultimate sound system. The new Flying Spur will likely start over $250,000 when it goes on sale sometime later this year. Not all sedans are created equal. Some are simply exceptionally luxurious, resolutely powerful, and very expensive. Bentley's Flying Spur exemplifies these traits, and the latest generation of the uber-sedan raises the bar even higher.Bentley (Bentley)The first thing you'll notice about the new Flying Spur is that it's missing a pair of headlights. Now with a single unit on either side of its sizable grille, it's the first Bentley sedan since 1962 to feature this look, and it aligns with the recently redesigned Continental GT. The rest of the sedan's stately bodywork has also been massaged to be more regal, from its more cohesive front bumper and revised trunk lid to new-look taillights and fresh 22-inch wheels. Oh, and the Flying Spur's appearance has some differences depending on whether you prefer the ritzy look of the Azure model or the racy stylings of the resurrected S variant.AdvertisementAdvertisementNot only does the new Flying Spur S feature dark exterior trim versus flashier chrome, but its chassis and drivetrain have been revamped to better let drivers live out their racing fantasies. For the first time ever, Bentley's big sedan gets an electronic limited-slip rear diff, and it now pairs with a 48-volt electromechanical anti-roll system and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive adopted from the Flying Spur's top-tier Speed and Mulliner models.Bentley (Bentley)While the Speed and Mulliner have a more powerful hybrid powertrain, the standard Flying Spurs once again have a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that teams up with a hybrid assistant to produce 671 horsepower and 686 pound-feet of torque. Bentley says that's good enough to send the luxury barges from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and it has a top speed of 191 mph.Climb inside the Flying Spur, and you'll be greeted with gorgeous materials and tasteful technology. Bentley says it also decided to introduce a five-seat version of its ultra-luxury sedan, and the automaker humbly points out that it takes 12 hours to hand-craft the fluted or quilted seat inserts. The new Flying Spur is also eligible for a stereo upgrade—and not the kind you'd get at your local Mr. Tunes shop. Instead, it comes from Bentley's Virtuoso Collection, which is part of the brand's bespoke Mulliner division and combines a high-end 21-speaker Naim sound system with even nicer interior details, such as Champagne Gold elements.Bentley (Bentley)While Bentley hasn't yet released pricing for the 2027 Flying Spur lineup, we expect the starting price to clear $250,000. We should find out how much each model costs by the time production begins sometime this September at the brand's factory in Crewe, England.➡️ Skip the lot.
