Audi is once again offering the Allroad alongside the Avant with a more muscular design, 11 cm wider and suitable for rough terrain. TSP/Audi AG/dpaAudi has revived its A6 Allroad for a new generation, introducing an even more rugged approach to its go-anywhere estate car.Building on the standard A6's platform, the Allroad gets adaptive air suspension as standard alongside all-wheel-steering and Audi's famous quattro all-wheel-drive system for more capability over tough terrain. It also stands 11cm wider than the regular A6 Avant and has a 34mm boost in ground clearance, too, with larger tyres there to improve traction. There's additional underbody protection at the front and rear to help deflect impacts, while the sideskirts incorporate 'allroad' badging – a touch which has been found on all previous generations of this car.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe A6 Allroad will also be available with a choice of engines, including a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a plug-in 'e-hybrid', with the latter able to deliver up to 95 km of electric-only power. With petrol and electric power combined, the e-Hybrid will manage 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds, while the diesel is ever-so-slightly quicker.Inside, the Allroad's interior is much the same as that of the regular A6 Avant, with an 11.9-inch and 14.5-inch infotainment display coming equipped on all models. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display is also available. When it comes to practicality, the Allroad offers up 466 litres of boot space in the diesel, or 404 litres in the plug-in hybrid. An optional tow hitch will likely be a must-have for many Allroad owners and, once attached, it gives access to up to 2,500 kg of tow capacity in diesel models. It allows the Allroad to tow 400 kg more than the standard A6 Avant.Pricing and specifications for the Audi A6 Allroad are expected to be announced shortly.
