Mitsubishi has taken a slightly different approach with its latest Triton by including equipment normally purchased after the truck leaves the dealership.This particular Triton arrives ready for the sort of trip where getting stuck isn't an entirely hypothetical possibility. Its list of equipment includes additional body protection, specialized all-terrain rubber and some conspicuous hardware mounted above the cab.There's a reason Mitsubishi has leaned so heavily into the adventure theme. Mitsubishi includes an actual recovery shovel alongside traction boards, giving owners some useful tools if the Triton ends up buried in deep mud or loose terrain.The rack itself is rated to carry up to 110 pounds, or 50 kilograms. Rather than being purely decorative accessories, the shovel and recovery boards are intended to be available when the truck needs a little assistance getting itself moving again.Mitsubishi has also installed a snorkel, helping increase the Triton's stated wading depth to 31.5 inches. Combined with the recovery equipment, it gives the Savana Sertões a distinctly expedition-ready appearance straight from the showroom.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdditional protection comes from front and rear skid plates and reinforced side steps that can double as rock sliders. These components receive an X-Liner anti-scratch coating designed to better withstand the abuse associated with traveling away from pavement.It Was Inspired By A Brutal Brazilian RallyThe Savana Sertões takes its name from the Rally dos Sertões, the long-running Brazilian rally-raid competition first held in 1993. This isn't Mitsubishi's first Savana-branded version of the current Triton either, with the new model evolving the formula introduced by a limited-production edition in 2025.There's only one exterior color: Cinza Concrete, accompanied by bright orange accents and satin gray trim. New 18-inch alloy wheels wear Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT all-terrain tires, adding some functional capability to the visual changes.Inside, orange stitching and special Sertões badging continue the theme, while rubber floor mats should make cleaning up after an off-road excursion considerably easier. Mitsubishi has instead concentrated on protection, recovery equipment, and tires.AdvertisementAdvertisementUnder the hood is the familiar 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel producing 202 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. It's connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD-II system.That four-wheel-drive system provides plenty of tools of its own, including full-time 4H operation, low range, and center and rear differential locks. Seven selectable drive modes and Active Yaw Control are also part of the package.Anyone hoping for a significantly more aggressive Triton may have to keep watching Mitsubishi's performance division. The company has been exploring the potential for tougher Ralliart-branded pickups, although the Savana Sertões itself isn't that full-blown performance model.Americans Will Have To Admire It From AfarMitsubishi is offering the Triton Savana Sertões in Brazil at a promotional launch price of R$339,990, equivalent to roughly $66,000. Production will be limited, although Mitsubishi hasn't specified exactly how many examples it intends to build.AdvertisementAdvertisementSadly, the current Triton isn't sold in the United States at all. Mitsubishi has confirmed plans to return to the North American pickup segment through its Momentum 2030 product strategy, but that doesn't make this Brazilian special edition available here, and the Savana Sertões will remain another forbidden-market pickup Americans can only admire from a distance.
