Lexus IS Adds 'Envious' Special Edition for '27LexusThe age of electrification and hybridization has done away with a number of the stalwart platforms that once graced the automotive landscape, but there are still a few venerable machines finding their way to dealer lots. First introduced at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and entering production in April 2013, the current-generation Lexus IS is about as old as new cars get these days. It's also receiving a fresh special edition variant for the 2027 model year, dubbed—originally enough—the 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package.While it may seem strange for Lexus to add a relatively mundane special edition package to an aging sedan, it's actually been rolling out these unique IS models since 2022. (Think about Dodge and how it's dealt with its similarly aging Durango, and the trend starts to make more sense.) This particular unit is centered around the IS 350 F Sport, which comes equipped with a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 producing 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Your transmission is either an eight-speed or six-speed automatic, depending on whether you select a front- or all-wheel drive configuration.Lexus will also outfit these machines with the Handling Package content as standard, which includes Adaptive Variable Suspension, a Torsen limited-slip differential out back, and 19-inch BBS wheels. The setup also expands the drive mode selections inside the cabin, allowing you to better tailor your car to the roads ahead.AdvertisementAdvertisementSeparating this special edition from the other IS variants include items such as the unique green exterior hue, which Lexus calls Envious. That palette continues to the interior, where the Black NuLuxe-trimmed seats feature green contrast stitching. (It's not the flashiest design package, but it does feel rather fitting for this aging sports sedan.) Other highlights include the technology package hardware—cross traffic alert, lane change assist, and traffic jam assist—coming on all the cars.We don't know yet how much these Envious green MY2027 machines are going to cost, but as the outgoing 2026 Special Appearance Package variants go for $61,485 and $63,095 for RWD and AWD respectively, plan on the new versions to come in around or below $65K.
