The fourth-generation Tucson on sale now only arrived for 2022, so a new version arriving for 2027 would be relatively soon—then again, the compact SUV segment is full of hot-selling options, so Hyundai needs to put its best work out there to succeed. Here's what we think you can expect from Hyundai's reworked rival to the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue. This page will be updated with more insights and photos as information becomes available. What We ThinkThe Hyundai Tucson is a solid option among compact SUVs, but that might not be enough. With rivals like the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4 recently redesigned, the Tucson needs to capture attention again—even with its already eye-catching looks. Hyundai could reveal a next-generation Tucson as soon as 2027, showcasing all-new design, upgraded infotainment tech, and equipped with more features that matter to compact crossover buyers. There's a chance that the future Tucson will go all-hybrid, like some of its close rivals. Little is known about the new Tucson at this point, but it could be one of Hyundai's biggest reveals for 2027.Top-Ranked Competitors:AdvertisementAdvertisementHonda CR-VToyota RAV4Mazda CX-5Nissan RogueNew Tucson EnginesPowertrain choices for the new Tucson could be familiar from the outgoing model. A 2.5-liter I-4 might carry on as the base engine, while a turbocharged 1.6-liter or 2.5-liter I-4 might be added as a higher-performance option. These engines could make slight gains in power and efficiency compared to the 2026 model. Expect FWD as standard, and AWD to be available.Hyundai currently offers the Tucson as a hybrid, and will certainly continue to do so in the next-generation model. There's a chance that the entire Tucson lineup will go hybrid-only, like the recently redesigned Toyota RAV4. Either way, expect an electrified 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 to provide power.Safety and Driver-Assist FeaturesLike it does now, Hyundai is expected to continue equipping the new Tucson with a variety of driver-assist and active safety features. All 2027 Tucson models should come with automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Even if the feature set is similar to before, the features themselves may be refined and improved from today's equivalents.Cargo Space and Interior RoomWith the Kona remaining as a smaller option and the Santa Fe continuing as a larger three-row SUV, the next Tucson is likely to remain a two-row, five-seat compact crossover. The Tucson is already very spacious for an SUV in this category, providing 38.7 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats upright, and 74.5 cubic feet when the second row is folded down. It also has more than 41 inches of legroom in both rows of seats. The 2027 Tucson could be even more spacious, but likely not by much.TechnologyA next-generation infotainment interface could be equipped in the 2027 Tucson. The new system would likely run on a touchscreen even larger than the 12.3-inch unit that's standard now, and have improvements to processing power, graphics, and ease of use. Like is common these days, the bigger screen could supplant user-friendly physical buttons for basic controls. An AI-enabled digital voice assistant could be part of the tech suite, but expect wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to remain standard. A digital driver's display and USB ports in both rows of seats will also likely be included, as higher-end models get a wireless charging pad, head-up display, and multi-color ambient lighting.Off-Road Ready?Although the new Tucson will likely remain fairly road-focused, its styling could become more rugged. The edgy Hyundai Crater concept SUV could serve as inspiration. Regardless of what it looks like, expect the 2027 Tucson to offer a dirt-ready XRT model, which could add hardware like all-terrain tires, lifted suspension, and some underbody protection. When and How Much? The new Hyundai Tucson arriving for 2027 could be too soon; it going on sale for 2028 is another possibility. Regardless, expect it to be slightly more expensive than the 2026 model's roughly $31,500 base price—if the SUV goes hybrid-only, it could be closer to $34,000 to start.
