Its bones have been around for years, and in a market obsessed with downsized turbo engines and electrification, it continues to do things the old-school way. That, oddly enough, is exactly the point. For 2027, Dodge is giving its fans exactly what they’ve been asking for: HEMI V8s across the board. The company claims the Durango offers “the most horsepower per dollar among gas SUVs,” but the real story is that the formula hasn’t changed. You still get big engines, standard all-wheel drive, solid towing, and a three-row SUV that seems out of place in a mall parking lot.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe main news is that every Durango now comes with a HEMI under the hood. The range starts with the GT HEMI’s 5.7-liter V8 at 360 horsepower, moves up to the R/T 392 with 475, and tops out with the 710-hp supercharged SRT Hellcat. Dodge isn’t raising prices much, either.DodgeBrass Monkey Joins the MixPersonalization is a bigger part of the 2027 update. The GT HEMI now offers a Brass Monkey package, which adds bronze accents, black '345' fender badges with brass outlines, and matching wheels. If you pick the Tow ‘n Go package, you can upgrade to forged wheels for a tougher look. Most of the bigger changes show up in the R/T 392 models. There’s a new R/T 392 Plus trim that adds comfort features like Nappa leather, heated second-row seats, ventilated fronts, a sunroof, and better interior materials. The Blacktop Redline package brings in racing stripes, forged wheels, performance seats, and a lower splitter on higher trims. Red seat belts and optional yellow Brembo brakes are also available, so you can add some flair without going all the way to the Hellcat.DodgeJailbreak Gets Wilder, Security Gets SmarterAt the top, the SRT Hellcat stays mostly unchanged, which is likely what buyers prefer. The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI still puts out 710 horsepower, does 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds, and tows up to 8,700 pounds. It sounds just as bold as ever.AdvertisementAdvertisementDodge is putting more effort into customization this year. The Jailbreak package now offers over 14 million possible combinations, new forged wheels, and a six-passenger setup with black Nappa leather and suede. There’s also a new Pitch Black paint option for every trim. Less exciting but practical is a new digital security feature that helps prevent unauthorized key pairing and key-fob copying.According to Dodge, the 2027 Durango is now available to order, though the company’s online configurator has yet to go live at the time of this writing.DodgeView the 8 images of this gallery on the original articleThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Jun 3, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
