There's a new 12-cylinder exotic in the market and it goes by the name of the 2027 Aston Martin Valen.Aston touts the two-door super coupe as the most powerful model in its 113-year history, and the most powerful front-engine production car of all time. The 2027 Aston Martin Valen squares off against other flagship supercars like the Lamborghini Revuelto, McLaren W1, and Ferrari F80.What's NewBasicsAston Martin's 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine strengthened to 838 hpDrops 242 pounds from Aston Martin's V-12 platformRadical quad-tip titanium exhaust setupRetuned ZF eight-speed transmission with shift mapping from Vantage GT4 race carExteriorModel-specific exterior design and aero accentsFull carbon-fiber bodyworkStandard 21-inch magnesium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero R tires or P Zero Winter 2 tiresInteriorA model-specific interior with 3D-printed elementsSwitchgear and center console elements borrowed from the Aston MartinValhallaSports plus seatsReclined touchscreen to match interior designWhat We ThinkA new limited-production supercar has arrived from Q by Aston Martin, the automaker's bespoke vehicle service responsible for other limited-production models like the Valour, Valiant, and DBR22. This time Q has teamed up with the new Special Vehicles Operations to develop the 2027 Aston Martin Valen.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe new model derives its name from valens, the Latin word for strong or powerful, and it fits—the 2027 Aston Martin Valen is the most powerful front-engine model the automaker has ever sold, and the most powerful front-engine production car of all time.Outfitted with a non-hybrid twin-turbocharged V-12, the Valen is synonymous with excess, a trait reinforced by its unusual quad exhaust tip arranging in the rear. Two tips are positioned up high, while the other two are slung down low.Based on our experience with the closely related Aston Martin Vanquish, we suspect the Valen will be devastatingly quick, and hope that the new exhaust setup lets the engine sing a bit better. And although we didn't have any issues with the Vanquish's gearbox, Aston Martin says that it has sharpened the eight-speed transmission from ZF nonetheless, using what it learned from racing the Vantage in the GT4 class.AdvertisementAdvertisementFurther differentiating the Valen from the Vanquish are updates targeting software, stability control, steering, camber, and braking. These updates are intended to give the Valen a unique, more aggressive identity. We won't know for sure until we get behind the wheel ourselves, but if our time with the Vanquish is any indication, we suspect the 150 buyers granted access to the 2027 Aston Martin Valen's restricted production run will feel as though they've purchased something quite special indeed. Top Ranked Competitors•Lamborghini Revuelto•McLaren W1•Ferrari F80•Bentley Continental GT SpeedPerformanceAston Martin tunes the 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 under the hood of the Valen to develop 848 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. The astoundingly powerful non-hybrid engine sends output to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling a manufacturer-claimed 0–60 mph time of just 3.0 seconds.AdvertisementAdvertisementTop speed is electronically limited to 214 mph. The Valen has drive modes including Sport, Sport+, and Track, with varying degrees of throttle mapping depending on the mode's intended use.MPGs and RangeAston Martin hasn't announced fuel economy figures for the Valen just yet, but its similarities to the Vanquish give us a good idea of what to expect. The 2027 Aston Martin Vanquish is rated at 13/21 mpg city/highway and 347 miles of range.A Ferrari 12Cilindri is a good point of comparison. The twelve-cylinder model from the Prancing Horse gets 12/19 mpg and also gets around 340 miles of range.Safety FeaturesThe 2027 Aston Martin Valen should have comparable safety equipment to the Vanquish. Expect the ultra-luxe grand tourer to carry over the following items:AdvertisementAdvertisementForward collision warningAutonomous emergency brakingAdaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionalityLane keep assist with lane departure warningAutomatic high-beamsTraffic sign recognitionBlind-spot monitoringDoor open assistRear cross-traffic assistDriver attention monitoringA 360-degree cameraCargo Space and Interior RoomLike the Aston Martin Vanquish, the Valen should have plenty of interior space for up to two occupants. Trunk space is just decent, measuring 6.0 cubic feet. That's more space than you typically get in a mid-engine hypercar, but less than a Bentley Continental GT, which has 9.2 cubic feet of cargo volume. The trunk of the regular Vanquish coupe is more spacious at 8.8 cubic feet.TechnologyInfotainmentThe 2027 Aston Martin Valen doesn't forgo modern technology for the sake of standing out. It continues to offer dual 10.3-inch displays with wireless Apple CarPlay. Expect the Vanquish's wireless charger and twin USB ports to carry over as well.Valen models should be compatible with the Aston Martin App, allowing owners to remotely monitor and interact with their vehicle on both Apple iOS and Android.Sound SystemThe Aston Martin Vanquish has a 15-speaker sound system from Bowers & Wilkins, which we expect to make an appearance here in the Valen. How Much Does the Aston Martin Valen Cost? The 2027 Aston Martin Vanquish is anticipated to begin in the mid-$400,000 price range, so it stands to reason that the highly limited Valen commands a premium over the V-12 super coupe on which it is based. Are you sitting down? Aston Martin asks a cool $2,000,000 for the Velan, and that's before its customers request further personalization from the automaker's Q division. If you're the lucky sort of individual that has the coin and access to Aston Martin's more exclusive products, the Valen can be yours starting in the second quarter of 2027.
