If you follow motorsports in any way right now, you'll have likely come across Lia Block. At only 19 years old, she's already made a name for herself in both rallying and circuit racing and earned a significant amount of media attention along the way. That's been helped a lot from manufacturer backing from companies like Ford, Subaru and Hyundai. She's also featured on a lot of online content since the start of her career. You might have wondered why Lia Block is getting such a huge spotlight as a racing talent. Well, that's what we're about to break down! Here's a guide to who Lia Block is, what kind of racing she's been involved in and what she's planning for her future. Lia Block Is Carving Her Own Legacy In Motorsports Subaru She's Raced In Multiple DisciplinesSubaru of AmericaLia's father was best known for rallying and rallycross. While that's a part of Lia's motorsports career, she's done a lot more than just that. Lia Block has managed to get involved with an almost dizzying number of motorsports disciplines. These range from the sublime to the ridiculous, and from blasts around short and muddy tracks to proper endurance events that require nerves of steel and real driving skill. Drag Racing The first thing that Lia Block got involved in was, interestingly, drag racing. She got her NHRA Drag licence at the age of 14, making her the youngest-ever person to get one. While she hasn't really actively competed in drag racing, a lot of her ability in this discipline has been documented on film. That's most prominent in the Hoonicorn vs The World series that was produced by Hoonigan. As part of this, she drag raced her father's legendary ultra-powerful Mustang against a variety of drag strip monsters. Rallying Much like her father, Lia Block's greatest successes have come in rallying. She's been a fixture on the North American rally scene for almost her entire career, making her debut in an American Rally Association event in 2021. Her most successful year in ARA competition so far has been 2023, where she dominated the O2WD class with 4 wins and 1 podium. She also won the Boone Forest Rally held by ARA East in 2025.During her rallying career, Lia Block has mostly driven either Ford or Subaru cars like her father did. In her first two years of ARA competition, she drove the Ford Fiesta R2 and R2T models. From 2023, she mainly switched to driving Subarus. She used the BRZ in 2023, and then switched to the WRX in 2024. She briefly returned to Ford for her single outing in ARA East in 2025, driving the Fiesta Rally3. 2026 has seen Lia Block change to a completely new manufacturer, using the Hyundai i20N Rally2. Rallycross Considering her father was a decent hand in the world of Rallycross, it's not surprising that Lia Block also had a go at it. She joined the Nitrocross championship in 2023, driving for OSME in the Nitrcross NEXT division. She finished 6th overall with 327 points, including three podium finishes. She also raced one round in the Nitrocross E category that year for the Vermont Sports Car team, finishing 8th to make herself 19th overall with 32 points. She committed exclusively to the Nitrocross E category the following year, switching to the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Dodge team. She consistently finished in the points across the four rounds she competed in, ending the season 8th overall with 114 points. Rally Raid Dipping further into rally-adjacent disciplines, Lia Block took on a completely new challenge when she signed up to drive for Carl Cox Motorsport in Extreme E in 2023. She joined the fully-electric series for the Island X-Prix in Sardinia, and took part in every round for the rest of the season. She did consistently well for a first-timer in the series, consistently finishing in the points and getting a highest finish of 6th during the Copper X-Prix in Chile. She finished the championship in 14th overall, scoring 27 points. As well as this all-electric form of rally raid, Lia Block had a go at a more conventional form of that discipline the same year. She took part in the 2023 Baja 1000 in the Pro Stock UTV class, and was the class winner! Single-Seaters One of the things that Lia Block has had the most media coverage for in recent years is her stint in F1 Academy. Racing under the Williams Driver Academy, Lia Block competed in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. She had fairly mixed results, finishing 8th overall with 44 points in 2024 and 9th overall with 37 points in 2025. That 2025 season did include a race win, though! This happened at the Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore. She also stood on the podium once during that 2025 season, taking 2nd place at Zandvoort. While she was involved with the Williams Driver Academy, she did a bit of additional single seater racing. She took part in one weekend of the 2024 Italian F4 Championship at Monza, where she had a bit of a rough time (she finished 30th in the first race, 23rd in the second race and then retired from the third race). The following year, she took part in the Eurocup-4 Spanish Winter Championship at the Jerez and Portimão rounds. She didn't do particularly well there either, scoring no points at either of those weekends and retiring from the third race at Jerez. She also took part in the Formula Winter Series in 2024, competing across three weekends. She had another tough run there, finishing the championship in 45th with no points scored. Oval Racing Perhaps the most ridiculous kind of racing that Lia Block has taken part in involves going around a short track oval in an old Panther-body Ford! She's been a competitor in Cleetus McFarland's Freedom 500 twice. She first took part in 2023, and then returned in 2026. Competitors in the 2026 Freedom 500 were people from all walks of motorsports, from average Joe amateurs up to professional drivers. They all drove Ford Crown Victorias, and the prize for the winner was a plane. So, how did Lia Block do in her two attempts at the Freedom 500? Well, she finished 12th in 2023 and 21st in 2026. In both years she competed, motocross rider Brian Deegan (the father of Hailey Deegan) was the winner. She's Become A Big Automotive Content Creator Lia's father's massive fame was partly due to his media-savvy mentality. It's not surprising, then, that she's also become a big automotive content creator. She started appearing on videos created by Hoonigan while she was in her mid-teens. Since then, she's regularly appeared in videos published by Block House Racing, her family's racing team. She also often appears in sponsored videos for various different companies (such as Rockstar Energy), she's appeared on videos created by close friends (such as ones made by Travis Pastrana, who was a close friend of her dad) and she appeared on quite a bit of content made by the Williams F1 Team while she was a Williams Academy driver. As part of her content creation career, we've got to look at some of the cars she drives when she's not racing. This includes a 1985 Audi Ur-Quattro, which she restored herself. What's On The Horizon For Lia Block's Career?Subaru of AmericaLia Block seems to be riding on a wave of success right now. So, what's next for her? Well, for the time being, it looks like more rallying. She's running a full ARA season in 2026, and doesn't seem to want to return to single-seaters or much circuit racing in general. That's not surprising, considering she didn't have the best time racing single-seaters (except that one win and couple of podiums in F1 Academy in 2025). While she's sticking to North America for now, she has said she'd like to move her career to Europe to compete in the World Rally Championship. By doing that, she'd be following in the footsteps of her father, carrying on his legacy while forging her own.Sources: Instagram (@liakblock), YouTube (@BlockHouseRacing, @TheHoonigans)FAQQ: Who is Lia Block?Lia Block is an American racing driver.Q: How old is Lia Block?Lia Block was born on 1 October 2006, making her 19 years old.Q: What cars does Lia Block drive? While she's racing, Lia Block currently drives a Hyundai i20N Rally2.
