WaymoSan Diego will soon join other cities in Waymo's fully autonomous driving.Waymo has been working to familiarize the cars with San Diego roads and understand the transportation needs of community members for the last several months.Initially, the ride service will only be available to Waymo employees until it is opened to the public.Once available, San Diego passengers will be among the first to experience the Ojai, which offers riders more spacious interiors, greater battery capacity, faster charging and operational improvements.AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile some riders may have concerns regarding the safety of self-driving cars, Waymos have been involved in 94% fewer crashes causing serious or deadly injuries compared to human-operated vehicles in its areas of operation. Waymo also had 82% fewer injury-causing crashes, according to Waymo safety statistics.
