Toyota Recalls 43,000 More Turbo V-6 TundrasToyota (Toyota)Toyota’s 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 continues to be a thorn in the company's side, as Toyota just announced a new recall of 43,566 Tundras (non-hybrid models) with the engine. In case you missed it, Toyota conducted multiple previous recalls concerning the same issue this one does, recalling hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to potential engine failure. This time, the recall consists of only 2024 model year Tundras built within a specific production period range. Toyota says there’s a possibility “that engine machining debris of a particular size and amount may not have been cleared from the engine during manufacturing and subsequently contaminated the engine assembly during the production process.”If that sounds familiar, it is: the previous recalls for Toyota and Lexus vehicles with the same engine cited the same root cause. Toyota goes on to explain why that debris is a problem: “For these engines in the subject vehicles, the pressure on a main bearing due to the engine configuration is such that, if the aforementioned machining debris adheres to that bearing and operation of the engine continues at higher loads over time, failure of the bearing may occur. This can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start and/or an engine stall.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAs of now, Toyota believes there to be 360 warranty claims on engines. Unfortunately, Toyota doesn’t have a solution spelled out yet for this latest recall, writing that “the remedy is currently under development.” Toyota says it’s notifying owners of affected vehicles by July 20 this year, and when a solution is ready, all repairs will be done free of charge as is required by federal law.You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
