Image Credit: Red BullGet ready to hear the scream of a mighty Cosworth V10 engine, as Adrian Newey is set to drive the Red Bull RB17 hypercar up the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb this coming weekend. It is now two years since Newey and Red Bull first revealed the car, and now it's finally ready to hit the track.Red Bull and their former F1 design chief revealed the car at the 2024 Festival of Speed. Built purely for track use, it was, in effect, Newey's legacy project, giving his time at Red Bull one final hurrah before he headed off to Aston Martin.Ironically, Newey also penned the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar that has finally been seen on the streets and in sports car racing. But as the RB17 is built purely for the racetrack, the hypercar has had no technical limits placed on it, giving Newey a clean slate.AdvertisementAdvertisementThat much is evident from the design, even without getting into the nitty-gritty details. With Cosworth V10 power under the hood, the car is set to make an explosive debut at Goodwood, offering the public their first chance to see the hypercar in action. The RB17 Recently Performed Shakedown TestsRed Bull recently showcased the hypercar undergoing its shakedown tests, ahead of its debut at Goodwood. This allowed us all to get a first taste of what the car will sound like and look like in final production form. Think of it as an Aston Martin Valkyrie, but taken to the extreme with no limits placed on it at all.Under the hood is a massive 4.5-liter naturally-aspirated Cosworth V10 engine. There is no hybrid assistance here; all of the power comes from the mighty V10 engine, which sounded glorious in Red Bull's teaser video. The car produces up to 1,000hp, easily making it one of the most powerful production cars ever made. It is also expensive, with each one costing $6.7 million. It's also going to be very scarce. Red Bull has capped production at just 50 units. To put the price into perspective, it is more than double what you'd have paid for a Valkyrie. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Newey himself will get to drive the car, despite now working for the Aston Martin F1 team. Current Red Bull F1 driver Isack Hadjar and reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda will also get to have a go behind the wheel. Red Bull's F1 Academy driver Alisha Palmowski will also be behind the wheel.Red Bull Is Incredibly Excited About the RB17Image Credit: Red BullAs you might expect, Red Bull is very excited about seeing the RB17 in action for the first time. "At Red Bull, we're at our best when we're taking on challenges that others might consider impossible," Red Bull Advanced Technologies technical director Rob Gray said.AdvertisementAdvertisement"RB17 is exactly that. The ambition was to create a car capable of delivering a level of performance rarely seen outside Formula One, while remaining true to the original vision that inspired the project," he added. With performance levels akin to an actual F1 car, the RB17 is set to be one of the fastest hypercars ever produced. And it will have one of the best soundtracks as the icing on the cake.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
