(Credit: Tesla)Another day, another issue with Tesla’s Cybertruck. The blocky, stainless steel truck is facing a fresh recall, warning that some trucks risk losing their wheels on the road. Regulators say a defect in the brake rotors on 173 Cybertrucks with 18‑inch steel wheels could cause cracks around the stud holes, which may lead the studs to separate and allow a wheel to detach, our Mashable colleagues report.Tesla will replace affected rotors, hubs, and lug nuts at no cost to owners. Thankfully, the company has not logged any crashes or injuries tied to this issue so far.The recall follows a plethora of earlier Cybertruck problems that have already raised questions about quality control. In 2024, Tesla recalled almost 4,000 Cybertrucks because an accelerator pedal pad could slip off and jam in surrounding trim, which could lead to unintended acceleration. The company recalled another 6,000 in November 2025 due to a glue issue that caused the exterior lightbar to detach.AdvertisementAdvertisementLater, there was a separate recall campaign to fix exterior side panels near the windshield that might detach at higher speeds, as well as action on a drive-inverter issue that could cause loss of propulsion, as reported by Fast Company. To make things worse, the Cybertruck also faces headwinds in production and demand thanks to battery supply constraints. Slow sales have forced Tesla to reduce output and pull workers off of Cybertruck lines.
