For the last two years, Tesla has managed to do one thing almost no other car company could. It managed to keep the price of the Model Y electric crossover, its best-selling vehicle, flat despite tariffs, inflation, and the lack of electric demand we keep hearing about. Now, the company has made a change. The good news? You can still get the recently-added decontented version for the price Tesla launched it at. The standard Model Y, however, will cost you more. It's Not Easy Keeping Prices Flat These Days Tesla With automakers raising prices and even destination fees multiple times per year, keeping the price of any model the same has been tough. But everything must come to an end, and the Model Y Premium RWD's $1,000 price increase is the first in years. The Premium AWD is up the same amount, and the top-shelf Model Y Performance is up $500 to $57,990. The most basic models, which Tesla launched in late 2025 and have a fabric panel blocking the clear roof, are unchanged. If you want to add Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Supervised) suite of advanced driver assists, that price went up a long time ago. It's now $99 per month after a free one-month trial. There aren't many other options aside from paint and wheels. If you want a Premium AWD, you can add two seats in the way back for an extra $2,500, giving you seating for seven. Tesla is offering at least one deal. Finance up to 72 months and the company is offering 0.99% interest on the Y. No Changes For Model 3 Tesla Pricing for the Model 3 sedan hasn't changed. That car starts from $36,990 for a basic RWD car, and goes to $54,990 for a Performance AWD car. Tesla isn't offering finance discounts on the Model 3, but it is offering a year of free Supercharging. If you want to order a car online, there's a $250 fee. Tesla also charges a destination fee of $1,390 on those.Typical for Tesla, the price changes go into effect immediately. The automaker doesn't bother with traditional model years, making changes as it goes. Which is great if you want an over-the-air update, but possibly less wonderful if you're trying to find features on a used model.Tesla updated the Model Y in January 2025. The head and taillights were changed, with a new light bar in the front that resembled the Cybertruck's, especially at night. The Model Y refresh didn't drop a traditional turn signal stalk like the Model 3's. It did include that car's new central touchscreen, added power-adjustable rear seats, and Tesla revised the suspension tuning to try and make the ride more comfortable.
