The Porsche Cayenne lineup is getting confusing. There's the new fully electric model. In addition, the older combustion-powered version is sticking around for folks who don't want to embrace electrification yet. The automaker is even refreshing the gas Cayenne to keep it competitive in the cutthroat performance SUV segment. In essence, the Cayenne EV is riding on a newer platform. However, Porsche realized there was still a robust market for the existing vehicle. It could invest money into improvements to keep both underpinnings going at the same time. This new batch of spy photos catches the revised Cayenne GTS in development. As a refresher, the GTS sits near the top of the range in terms of price and performance, being above the S grade but below the Turbo E-Hybrid model. The current version used a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 making 493 horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque. The Refreshed Cayenne GTS CarBuzz/ValnetSince the refresh is using the existing combustion-powered Cayenne as a starting point, Porsche's styling team limits the design revisions to the front and rear. Even there, the designers aren't overhauling the performance SUV's appearance. Our spy photographers believe this one is wearing the final bodywork, and there's no sign of body cladding to conceal the differences.Porsche has been testing various prototypes of the refreshed Cayenne for around a year, and they share similar qualities, with minor differences depending on the trim level. In front, this one looks particularly sporty with large openings and skinny horizontal slats. The lighting arrangement fits with modern Porsches by including lower LED strips that double as turn signals and headlights, each with four separate illuminated elements.CarBuzz/ValnetThis Cayenne rides on black wheels with a Y-spoke pattern, and it wears Michelin tires. The brake calipers are black with white Porsche branding. At the back, the GTS is identifiable by its rear fascia, which integrates dual exhaust outlets on each side. The setup lends to the trim's mix of sport and luxury by combining the aggressive exhaust layout with the smoother body styling around it.We anticipate that the refreshed, combustion-powered Cayenne will adopt an interior with shared elements from the electric model. The layout would mean that the ICE-powered Cayenne would have large, high-definition screens and a chunky center console design.Powertrain changes still remain a mystery for the refreshed Cayenne lineup. Given the exterior upgrades and possible cabin revisions, we'd expect the GTS to retain its turbocharged V8, though the brand might tune it to make more power. We are currently expecting the refreshed Cayenne to debut before the end of the year and be on sale in 2027. With that in mind, Porsche would likely have the model available through the end of the decade. By doing so, it could determine whether the market is ready to go full EV across all products at that time or if there's still room for some combustion power. After so many previous spy photos, we expect the refreshed Cayenne GTS to premiere before the end of the year and be on sale for the 2027 calendar year. Currently, a Cayenne GTS starts at $134,750, and we'd expect the new one to cost even more, since vehicles rarely decrease in starting price.porsche-2
