The defect violates FMVSS No. 108, which governs lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.Without functioning turn signals, other road users may not recognize that an affected vehicle intends to turn, increasing the risk of a crash. Fortunately, Rivian has reported no related crashes, injuries, or fatalities.
