How do you define a gold mine? In the context of barn finds, just one really good car would do it. For most of us, a "really good" car would be anything with a decent body style. It wouldn’t even have to have top-notch equipment. But what if it did? What if you stumbled upon an automaker's best possible car from the heyday of performance? And what if there were more than one? Now that’s a gold mine. That’s not a fantasy that’s too good to be true, either. Mopars5150 just uploaded a video where they found a ‘70 Superbird, a ‘67 GT500 Mustang, and a Mach 1 all in the same lot at the same time, rescuing all three in one fell swoop. ‘70 Plymouth Superbird Is The Real Star Of This Barn Find Mopars5150, YouTube Mopars5150 specializes in tracking down and rescuing forgotten muscle cars. You can count on there being something awesome in every video it uploads to its YouTube channel. This latest video is bursting at the seams with barn-find goodness, though. Because instead of just one cool car, it features three absolute legends, accompanied by some bonus Ford and Mopar gems. The main draw for Mopar enthusiasts is the 1970 Superbird that ends up sandwiched between two Ford Mustangs on a trailer. It’s got some rust and definitely needs paint work, but it’s still a Superbird, which is among the best Mopar muscle cars ever built. Even better is that it has a killer engine under the hood that it left the factory with.Mopars5150, YouTube The Superbird was the sister car of the Dodge Charger Daytona. These winged twins were built to cut through the air like missiles and dominate NASCAR racing. The engine of choice for the racecars was the 426 Hemi. Though any classic car nut will tell you the 440 was the far superior street engine, and the best of them had the coveted Holley Six-Barrel carburetor setup, like the one this car.The Superbird in the video also has a Petty Blue paint job, which a lot of Mopar fans will be fired up on. However, this car was originally Lemon Twist Yellow and was repainted twice. The interior was also modified, but they did leave the build sheet behind the rear seat, making it easier to restore it to its original condition. The Rare 1967 Ford GT500 No One Expected To Survive Mopars5150, YouTube That Superbird is a seriously killer find, but it wasn’t alone on the journey home. It had been accompanied by a Mach 1 Mustang and a Shelby GT500. While we don’t learn much about the Mach 1 in this clip, we get to see that the GT500 roar back to life with minimal effort. This car wears a Lime Green Gold paint job, which the video notes as not being a fan favorite. It's worn through, but there’s no rust, which gives this car a great patina look that many will love. And with no need to do major metal work, preserving it is perfectly within reason, making this pure barn find gold. What’s really cool about this ‘67 GT500 is that it was a complete car when they found it. We’re actually shown a clip where they manage to get it running and driving under its own power. That makes this one of the most satisfying rescues you’ll watch all year. It’s sad we didn’t get to see theMach 1 do the same, but it was still a really cool car to see alongside the Superbird and GT500. Barn Find Madness Mopars5150, YouTube The fact that these three cars were found in general is pretty amazing, but the idea that they were all in the same place at the same time is almost unbelievable. If Mopars5150didn’t get some shots of all three cars on a trailer together, you might never believe this story. But it’s true. Mopar5150's long-time friend Jess is to thank for rounding them all up and making this almost magical spectacle possible. After rescuing the Superbird and GT500, they joined three other rescues in Mopars5150’s 5 Barn Find display at the 2023 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Illinois, which was surely one to remember.
