Porsche has done plenty of one-off builds through its special request, or Sonderwunsch, program, but its latest trio leans less on heritage racing liveries and more on childhood nostalgia. Teaming up with Disney and Pixar, the automaker has created three special 911s inspired by Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, with their release timed to the June 19, 2026, release of the fifth installment of the beloved Toy Story franchise. Until then, this teaser has to suffice.Appropriately, the cars will debut on the red carpet at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, where both Porsche and Pixar fans will get to see exactly how the Sonderwunsch team managed to imbue the cars with the personalities of their corresponding characters. Porsche said it worked closely with Pixar designers to translate character traits into color, material, and subtle visual cues.Porsche promises that means we won’t see oversized sheriff badges bolted to the hood or plastic wings sprouting from the rear decklid. The Woody-inspired 911, for instance, gets earthy tones and Western textures like saddle-brown leather, with some denim-like accents. It also gets stitching details inspired by Woody’s outfit but stopping short of cosplay. The Buzz Lightyear version, in contrast, gets a cleaner, more futuristic palette, while Jessie’s car splits the difference, says Porsche, with brighter colors but not cartoony.Toy Story characters Jessie, Woody, and Buzz Lightyear at the UK premiere of Toy Story 3.Underneath, these are still very much modern Porsches, reportedly based on current-generation 911s. Sonderwunsch stresses these are not performance upgraded cars but exercises in craftsmanship, filled with hand-finished details added after the cars leave the production line in Zuffenhausen. That’s the basis for most Sonderwunsch vehicles, in fact, turning production Porsches into one-of-a-kinds.Toy Story 5 is set to explore how traditional play contends with an increasingly digital world, introducing a tablet-based character that disrupts the toys’ established. Porsche points out the parallels in the collaboration, with the automaker showcasing its ability to personalize in an era increasingly defined by software, while Pixar gets to see its digital storytelling in a physical space. There’s also a charitable angle. The three cars will be sold together, with proceeds benefiting nonprofit organizations focused on children and communities in need. Porsche has yet to detail the exact sale format yet, but we’re sure the sale will attract a lot of collector attention.
