This year alone, we've seen world premieres of two new models with the fourth-generation Rogue and the polygonal Juke, a couple of teasers, and a generally more optimistic forecast. For all its troubles, the company is making a lot of noise - as it has to for the sake of its long-term prospects. At the time of writing, Nissan just posted on X a new-car launch set for June 17, 2026. It was seemingly out of the blue, and surely a surprise given that it had just presented its mid-term goals just a few months ago.1週間後の6月17日(水) 13:00、日産から新たなニュースをお届けします。ベールに包まれた「新型車」の発表披露会を、YouTubeにて生中継🎥一体どんなクルマが登場するのか……詳細が明かされるその瞬間を、ぜひリアルタイムで見届けてください。皆さんの予想もぜひリプライで教えてくださいね👀👇 https://t.co/wnD24OmfkQ— 日産自動車株式会社 (@NissanJP) June 10, 2026Take Your Best GuessThe social media post from Nissan's global account simply said, "We will be live-streaming the 'New Model' announcement reveal event on the Nissan official YouTube channel. Please tune in." There's no accompanying teaser photo, and it was announced as if it were a memo in the office.AdvertisementAdvertisementNissan's Japanese account was more lively, though. Aside from encouraging its followers to watch the livestream, it also said, translated straight from Japanese, "What kind of car will make its debut...... Be sure to catch the moment when the details are revealed, live in real time. We'd love to hear your predictions in the replies too."So, folks, it's time to play a guessing game without much in the way of clues.Nissan/YoutubeWhat Could It Be?We can probably rule out the Nissan Xterra. That model is primarily aimed at the North American market, and if it were the SUV, it would have been Nissan USA to break the news. We did check Nissan USA's account, and there was no mention of the launch there. It is, however, possible that this is simply the Japanese premiere of the second-generation Kicks. However, the announcement originates from the global account, and given that the new(er) Kicks had already been revealed, it would be strange to create buzz around it again.AdvertisementAdvertisementFor Nissan to make a bigger deal out of it, it must be a hugely significant model. Our guess? We're probably aiming for the stars, but here it goes.Nissan/YoutubeOur TakeGiven the surprising nature of the announcement, we're crossing our fingers that it might just be the new-generation Skyline. Yes, it's only been about two months since it was teased, but the preview of the car during Nissan's most recent presentation came as a bit of a shock and, in all honesty, something almost no one saw coming. On a more realistic note, this might actually be the launch of the next-generation, er, Note/Aura subcompact hatchback. While the current generation isn't as old as the Skyline, it's no spring chicken either, having been on sale since 2021. It might also well be the production version of the Aura Nismo RS Concept. There's a lot of suspense right now, and we'll only find out the true answer next week. By then, you can bet that we'll be glued to the livestream, too.NissanThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Jun 10, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
